There are still 38 Pokemon that players can’t catch in any of the Nintendo SwitchPokemonvideo games, though it’s possible that will change with future games and potentialScarlet and VioletDLC. Nintendo and Game Freak have released multiplePokemongames for the Nintendo Switch, giving fans of the franchise the opportunity to significantly grow their roster of Pokemon in the process.
The first Nintendo SwitchPokemongames were 2018’sLet’s Go PikachuandLet’s Go Eevee, remakes of the Generation 1Pokemongames that incorporated many elements from the popular mobile hitPokemon GO. They were followed up in 2019 byPokemon Sword and Shield, which also saw post-launch support in the form of DLC expansion packs that gave players new areas to explore and Pokemon to catch. From there,Pokemonfans were treated toPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearlin 2021, with 2022 seeing the launch of bothPokemon Legends: ArceusandPokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Despite how manyPokemongames have released for the Nintendo Switch so far, there are still 38 Pokemon that can’t be obtained in any of the available Switch games. This was recently pointed out by Reddit user bruinjohn, who included an image showing all 38 Pokemon that can’t be caught in any of the Nintendo SwitchPokemongames yet. Notably, the list includes many Pokemon that originated in theGeneration 5Pokemongames,Pokemon Black and White, and that may actually be by design. Here is the list of Pokemon currently missing from SwitchPokemongames, listed in order of Pokedex number.
Pokemon You Can’t Get on Switch
Based on the patterns established by Game Freak and Nintendo, it’s likely thatPokemon Black and Whiteremakesare next up when it comes to main seriesPokemongame releases. If that happens, then many of these Pokemon could be crossed off the list.
It’s also possible some of these Pokemon will be introduced as part ofPokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC. There are rumors that Game Freak and Nintendo are planning big DLC packs forPokemon Scarlet and Violetsimilar to what was released forPokemon Sword and Shield. If those rumors are true, then it’s quite possible that some of these Pokemon will be included in the DLC. Some of the rumors have claimed that thePokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC will be Kalos-themed, which could help introduce the Generation 6 Pokemon that have yet to make their debut, but fans should keep their expectations in check for now.
There are a couple of caveats with this list thatPokemonfans should keep in mind. For one, it’s possible to get Deoxys in one’sPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearlgames by trading to it, though he is not actually obtainable in the games themselves. The other thing to point out is that theHisuian Samurott is obtainable inPokemon Legends: Arceus, it’s just the original version of the Pokemon that can’t be caught in any of the Switch games.
