InAssassin’s Creed Odyssey, one of the biggest criticisms was that players would often find themselves having to stop and grind before they could continue with the game’s story. If their character hadn’t leveled enough to be able to take on the next story mission, they may have to do hours of side quests first.Assassin’s Creed Valhallawill have plenty of non-story activities and missions to do such as theViking raids and assaultsthat players can wage against Saxon armies, but it sounds like this could all be optional.

This sort of gameplay may be optional but it’s likely that manyAssassin’s Creed Valhallaplayers will find themselves taking part just so that they can learn more about the Vikings and the Saxons. Gameplay features such as theViking rap battles, or flyting as it would have been called in Viking times, may seem silly on paper but were an important part of the culture. Without the grind, players can complete this activities and missions at their own pace, not being pressured to do them because of story mission balance.

Ubisoft has revealed a huge amount of information about the game since announcingAssassin’s Creed Valhallawith a cinematic trailer yesterday. However, some fans will want to wait to know more before pre-ordering.

Positively for those fans, there will be anAssassin’s Creed Valhallagameplay reveal at next week’sXbox Series X gameplay event. It’s unclear how of this player choice fans will get to see in the gameplay reveal but more about that will likely be shared before the game releases in holiday 2020.
