Baldur’s Gate 3has been in the works for a while now, and developer Larian Studios has just revealed via Twitter that fans can learn even more about it throughout the month of June.
Baldur’s Gate 3is the follow-up to the earlyBaldur’s Gatesaga, with its very first game releasing in 1998. WhileBG3won’t be a direct sequel, its story is centered on the Forgotten Realms city of Baldur’s Gate, and will contain connections to the original series, as promised by Larian.

While production has understandably slowed to a degree because of COVID-19, Larian has assured fans thatBG3is still on track for a 2020 release. To that end, the developer has announced that it’ll be droppingBG3news throughout the entire month of June, starting with the Guerilla Collective Showcase on June 6.
For those who don’t know, Guerilla Collective is an online digital games festival where developers around the world can make big announcements and showcase their titles. In a world where most people are still maintaining rigid social distancing guidelines, a festival like Guerilla is one of the best and only ways to emulate major gaming events likeE3, which was canceled this year.
As forBG3itself, the game was officially confirmed earlier this year, and Larian hasrevealed a cinematic trailerand some gameplay. Thus far, the information unveiled has pointed towards a mind flayer incursion on the city of Baldur’s Gate, which players will be drawn into the center of. Gameplay is turn-based and with built-in DCs (difficulty classes) for every move players make; the game will followDungeons & Dragons5th editionrules and is heavily reliant on 5e when it comes to mechanics, playable races, and more. What Larian plans to reveal before the game’s release is unknown at this time, but considering the developer plans on dropping news over the course of an entire month, fans may be able to expect quite a bit of new information related to the game.
While there’s not too muchshown ofBaldur’s Gate 3yet, whathasbeen revealed is enough to excite fans into wanting more, and clearly, Larian is aware of that. The idea of dedicating a whole month to unveiling information aboutBG3is an intriguing one, and will hopefully yield even more promising information about the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3is in development now, with plans to enter early access in late 2020.
