Infinity Ward released a new update for bothCall of Duty: Modern WarfareandCall of Duty: Warzonetoday, and a lot of fans — namely theModern Warfarecommunity— aren’t really happy with it. They’ve been asking for the developer to bring back popular playlists such as Shipment 24/7, Shoot House 24/7, and Shoot the Ship for a while now, but with the looks of the new content update, Infinity Ward isn’t complying.
The developer took to Twitter to announce that the update would be addingdifferentCall of Dutyplaylistsfrom the ones requested. ForWarzone, it removed Blood Money Trios and added Plunder Quads. ForModern Warfare, it added Gunfight Snipers Only, Deathmatch Domination, “Stir Crazy” (10 v 10 on small maps), and “A Little DIY” (Scrapyard and Hardhat). The update is a smaller one that only serves to add these playlists, so it doesn’t offer bug fixes or new content.

Modern Warfareplayers haven’t seen the mentioned fan-favorite playlists sinceInfinity Ward released the November 3 update. The playlists are so well-liked because they let players automatically play onModern Warfare’s Shipment and Shoot House maps. Both are smaller arenas that allow for fun and chaotic gameplay while also making it easier for players to grind out weapon cameos like the Damascus, which can be a pain to do otherwise.
Some fans believe that the lack of guaranteed Shipment and Shoot House is due to therecent release ofCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The idea is that Infinity Ward is trying to push players toward playing that game instead ofModern Warfare. So long as both titles are doing well, though, it’s likely Activision doesn’t care either way, certainly not enough to sabotage one of its games over the other. It’s more likely a coincidence that the playlists haven’t made their way back toModern Warfareyet.
That said, it is somewhat strange thatCall of Duty:Modern Warfarehasn’t made Shipment 24/7, Shoot House 24/7, and Shoot the Ship permanent by this point. Players have been asking since Infinity Ward first introduced all of them, and they continue to do so whenever the playlists don’t show up. Permanently adding them would undoubtedly put an end to this issue. On the other hand, doing so would likely break the cycling rotation system thatInfinity Wardhas set up for the game’s playlists, as not as many players would engage with any other playlist updates.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
