Sterna Lewis, a streamer who goes by the name MSBANDIIT, was celebrating the release of the newCall of Duty: Warzoneseason with a Twitch livestream. Not long after the stream began, three men - one armed - barged into her study, where they ripped off her headphones and accosted her. Lewis and her husband Mario Engelbrecht were bound and told to lay quietly on the ground, where the intruders proceeded to collect the couple’s valuables. The robbers reportedly stole the couple’s car keys, cellphones, TVs, and several other electronics before authorities were notified, according to news site Pretoria Rekord.

Luckily, family friend Jaco Viljoen, who also lives in the Amberfield Valley Estate and was playingthe newCall of Duty: Warzoneseasonwith them, drove by the residence feeling something was off. Viljoen asked the neighborhood security officers to accompany him and, upon hearing unfamiliar voices, called the police. According to Lewis, the robbers must have heard this, as the trio immediately ran away, leaving their car and stolen items at the residence.

This isn’t the first time aCall of Dutyplayer has been in this kind of situation, asYouTuber SwaggXBL was also robbed at gunpointin August 2019. SwaggXBL was robbed when trying to find parking outside of his apartment, where an unknown assailant demanded money and stole the streamer’s signature jewel-encrusted necklace. While both incidents thankfully ended without significant physical harm to anyone involved, it’s still a scary prospect.

The local police department said it is actively investigating the situation, and that four suspects reportedly fled the scene with two watches, two phones, and car keys. Whether it’s a robbery oranother incident like swatting, being targeted is not something to be taken lightly, regardless of whether a camera is running at the scene.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
