Jacaerys Velaryon in House Of The Dragon

Updated on June 09, 2025, by Bisma Fida:While House of the Dragon’s second season has incorporated many storylines from George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, it also diverges from the source material. Now that Season 2 is currently airing, the changes in Helaena Targaryen’s arc are unmissable. When it comes to key and supporting characters deaths, House of the Dragon marches to the beat of its own drum. This list correctly predicted somecharacter and dragon deaths, such as Princess Rhaenys and Meleys', but given how House of the Dragon is shaping up to be, more are to follow. As such, this list has been updated to feature more predictions.

5Jacaerys Velaryon

At The Gullet

Rhaenyra’s heir, Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, will be eliminated in the upcoming naval battle fought in the Gullet between the Triarchyon behalf of the Greensand the Dragonseeds and Jace for the Blacks.

Season 2 ofHouse of the Dragonis headed toward an epic naval battle, which will most likely be in the show’s finale. Prince Jacaerys and the Dragonseeds fly to the Gullet after hearing that the Pentoshi cog Gay Abandon carrying Rhaenyra’s sons was ambushed by the Triarchy. Prince Aemond has already spoken of allying with the Free Cities to bring the Sea Snake who blockades the Gullet to his knees. The Green Council expressed its reservations, but Aemon has the final word now, given that he rules as the Prince Regent and Protector of the Realm. The Triarchy will fight for the Greens to break House Velaryon’s grip on the Gullet, butthe Blacks will respond with their dragons. Jace and the new Dragonriders fly to the Gullet and set fire to the Triarchy’s warships in lore. A crossbow bolt pierces the Vermax’s eye, and he falls onto a burning warship. As a result, Jace falls off his dragon and is mortally wounded by crossbow bolts.

4Vermax

Prince Jacaerys' young dragon, Vermax, will be a casualty ofthe Battle of the Gullet. Vermax is nimble, in contrast to the rest of the Blacks' dragons in the battle.

The Dragonseed plot, which sees Rhaenyra and Jaceemploy new dragonridersin the war, is the prelude to the Gullet. Hugh, Ulf, Addam, and most likely Rhaena Targaryen will fly the dragons, Vermithor, Silverwing, Seasmoke, and Sheepstealer, respectively. They return unharmed after burning the Triarchy’s warships, but Vermax meets his end.

Daemon Targaryen holds a knife to Ser Simon Strong’s throat in House of the Dragon

3Ser Simon Strong

At Harrenhal

The castellan of Harrenhal, Ser Simon Strong, is the great-uncle to Lord Larys Strong, who serves the Greens at King’s Landing. Simon suspects Larys' hand in burning his father Lyonel and brother Harwin and has no love for him. He is happy to give up the castle to Daemon, but he fears Cole and his army.

Daemon resides at Harrenhal, but the Lord of the castle, Larys of Greens, keeps calm because he has left it penniless. The Greens, under Aemond, direct their attention to Harrenhal after the Battle at Rook’s Rest. As of the sixth episode ofHouse of the Dragon’s second season, Cole, Gwayne, and their armies are coming for the knight, Simon Strong. Harrenhal has high upkeep, but it is thelargest castle in the Seven Kingdoms. It has a strategic location and is the best place to garrison the army of the Riverlands.

2Germund Strong

When Cole retakes Harrenhal, he frees Simon and his grandsons since the Strongs are Green loyalists in the lore. But after King’s Landing falls to the Blacks, Aemond executesthe whole of the Strong family, except for the bastard Maester, Alys Rivers.

Currently, the Greens, under Cole and Gwayne, are marching toward Harrenhal. Because of the castellan’s treasonous actions, Germund Strong will likely be put to the sword at some point before the end ofHouse of the Dragon’s second season.

Paxter Strong, Laena Velaryon, and Simon Strong in House of the Dragon.

1Paxter Strong

Simon is almost always surrounded by his kin, and like Germund, Paxter too is likely to meet Cole or Aemond’s wrath inHouse of the Dragon’s future. Though Germund and Paxter Strong have no say in Simon’s decisions, they are his kin and will likely be the next targets of the Greens.

Germund and Paxter were present at the meeting between Daemon and Ser Willem Blackwood. They would very much like it ifDaemon managed to raise an armyand garrison it in their family’s stronghold.
