Although there are still over four months untilCyberpunk 2077releases, gamers have been trying everything they can to get developerCD Projekt Red to release new infoabout the game. Typically, when the developer tweets anything the game, the common reply on social media is, “Please release more footage.”

Considering that CD Projekt Red has earned a reputation for honoring its player base with quality content and never trying to nickel and dime them, the developer takes the comments in stride. In fact, theCyberpunk 2077Twitter account even poked fun at the constant replies with a Tweet of its own.

During the current pandemic, there are manycompanies that are trying to earn businesswhile adhering to the new guidelines about social distancing. Restaurants have had to turn to delivery and take out services to stay afloat, while other companies have had to resort to more drastic measures.

One “gentlemen’s club” in Oregon even opened up a drive-thru option where customers can pull up to a live dance display and get their money’s worth from their car. Since these exotic dancers also have to adhere to the guidelines for businesses, many of them are wearing gas masks, which adds a dystopian layer to the whole experience. Images from the club surfaced online to show how the Oregon business had adapted to the situation, and they coincidentally look likesomething right out ofCyberpunk 2077.

Not one to miss out on an opportunity for a little cross-promotion, theCyberpunk 2077account tweeted a reply to the message about the gentlemen’s club. As one might expect, the social media account said, “Please release more footage.”

It’s a surprising response considering the original tweet’s content, but it is funny nonetheless. Some might think that the CD Projekt Red team is merely trying to get a closer look at the dancers, but those that follow theCyberpunkTwitter account will recognize the in-joke.

As an independent developer, CD Projekt Red can get away with Tweets like this that are harmless and all in good fun. Bigger developers and publishers usually have to keep things as PC as possible and avoid anything that might stir up controversy.CDPR, on the other hand, embraces controversyat every turn.

This might also have been an opportunity for the Cyberpunk 2077 dev to assure its fans that the upcoming game will feature similarly mature content. A recentrating of the game from the Australia Ratings Boardsuggested as much even gave gamers some hints as to how mature the game may be.
