In the latest update for the 2023 remake ofDead Space, EA Motive has unlocked the opportunity for players to swap their Miner RIG cosmetic for previously unlocked suit levels. At launch,Dead Spaceplayers weren’t allowed to swap to in-game suits that they’d previously unlocked, but after players asked EA Motive add the option, the developer followed through.Much like in the originalDead Space, players are able to unlock multiple levels ofIsaac’s Miner RIG suit. There are six suit levels in total, though only the first five can be purchased in a single playthrough. Each level improves Isaac’s overall damage protection and inventory slots, but requires a substantial amount of Credits to acquire. Every version of the suit also features a unique cosmetic appearance, with higher levels featuring additional armor plating.RELATED:Dead Space Speedrunner Beats the Remake in Less Than Two HoursEA Motive has delivered an update in response to feedback regarding the inability to swap through Isaac’s MinerRIG suit cosmetics. A small update went out on Friday, February 17 allowing players to visit their Storage and access previously acquired suit visuals. Note that acquiring a new suit unlocks the previous level permanently. To go back to the new suit,Dead Spaceplayers should choose the “Unequip” option rather than look for the cosmetic in their storage.
WhileDead Spaceplayers were undoubtedly more than happy to receive the gameplay-impacting improvements from leveling up Isaac’s Miner RIG suit, not everyone was a fan of the visuals of each improved suit. Some players preferred the simpler, lightweight design of the early levels of Isaac’s suit. The helmet and visor also dramatically changed visually with each level upgrade, so players have their own favorites. That’s whyDead Spaceplayers asked for the change.
There are plenty of other suit cosmetics to unlock inDead Spacebeyond Isaac’s default options, too. The Level 6 Suit, also named the Advanced Soldier 6, is accessible after loading a “Cleared Game” save. There’s also the throwback DS-08 Legacy RIG which players unlock when visiting the store for the first time, and the Burnished Suit that’s unlocked after completingDead Spaceon Impossible difficulty. That’s not even mentioning the multipleDead SpaceDLC suitsthat are also available.
The update forDead Spaceis otherwise relatively innocuous. It made improvements toSteam Deck supportforDead Space, and fixed some annoying bugs that would prevent progress. Still, it’s good to see EA Motive continuing to updateDead Spaceand respond to feedback as the horror game’s launch fades into the rearview mirror.
Dead Spaceis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
