As promised, Bungie has released a hotfix forDestiny 2today thataddresses the bug for the quest “The Lie"that’s kept players from being able to complete the latest stage of the hunt for the Felwinter’s Lie shotgun. Unfortunately, in an example of “two steps forward, one step back,” the developer has warned players of a slight side-effect of the hotfix that they’ll want to be aware of.
To recap, the latest ofDestiny 2’s weapon quests has been on shaky footing from the start with players. Coming right off the heels of the poorly-received Guardians Games event, The Lie was initially bogged down by the Seraph Tower community events that Bungie had to nerf for being too grind-heavy. Topping things off was the fact that thefollowing part of the Felwinter’s Lie quest was bugged, causing players trying to access the next mission to end up on the Moon’s spawn point instead, effectively preventing them from completing the quest.

Now that Hotfix 2.8.1.3 has been rolled out, though, this problem is now a thing of the past, and players are now free to actuallycomplete The Lie and earn the Felwinter’s Lie. But according to Bungie’s support page on Twitter, the hotfix has caused a small issue that will prevent the Felwinter’s Lie from appearing in players’ collections once they acquire it. This will leave them with no way to regain the weapon if they dismantle it for whatever reason.
For the most part, though, it seems like theDestiny 2community isn’t too worried about this, with many on Twitter replying to Bungie’s post saying it’s a small price to pay for the Felwinter’s Lie. Others, meanwhile, have actually contradicted Bungie by claiming that the shotgun does actually appear in theCollection menu, but it’s mistakenly categorized as a sniper rifle.
At any rate, Bungie will resolve whatever issue keeping the gun from its proper place in the Collection menu in a future update, so players can soon finally move on from all the headaches the Felwinter’s Lie quest have given them. That said, it’s currently unknown if Bungie is planning on addressing theglitch in the quest that lets players visit the Iron TemplefromDestiny 1’sRise of Ironexpansion.
Destiny 2is available for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions confirmed to be in the works.
