Veterans ofDiablo 2know by now that this is no average game. That was obvious from the moment it hit the shelves and had critics and players raving. Nobody had done an RPG this dark before or had loot that was this fun to collect before. The gameplay was so captivating that hardcore fans never put it down, not even to playDiablo 3, which is likely why the game is getting a fresh coat of paint.

One of the things that makesDiablo 2distinct from the rest is that Act I is not any easier than Act 5. Sure, monsters increase in power as the game progresses, but the monsters in the first stage still have great powers and the big catch here is that most players are neither geared correctly nor leveled properly when they first encounter these monstrosities. The monsters on this are the cause being many smashed keyboards and abandoned characters.

13Corpsefire

It shouldn’t be surprising that the first super unique monster in the game is also the easiest. His bonus, Spectral Hit, is one of the best bonuses in the game, but he’s a zombie. That means evena druid who needs to learn more about his own classwill have no problem dispatching him due to slow movement and attack speed.

12Griswold

While fansplay other games while they wait forDiablo 2: Resurrected, they might pick up the originalDiablo. That means running into a very lively Griswold. The zombie version in this game is nowhere near as strong. His glaring weakness is an attack animation that doesn’t actually complete until the player can walk away before the swing lands.

11Bone Ash

Bone Ash, on paper, looks particularly challenging. With three different bonuses, he’s played up to be a fear-inducing mini-boss. Unfortunately for him, he’s one of a few super uniques in the game that lacks a posse. Without minions, the fight becomes very simple and evenplayers that pick their character based on their zodiac signswill likely run into no issues dispatching him.

10Rakanishu

The fallen are a race of beings that are scarcely memorable outside of being reminded, “It’s the little creatures that die in one hit.” Having one be a super unique might come off as gimmicky, but the creature holds his own. At least, for a couple of hits. He can be beefed up through one ofthe game’s many great modsif this still seems too easy.

9Coldcrow

The lore behind this super unique monster is that she stole a powerful dagger. Maybethe cut content fromDiablo 2is to blame for the dagger never making it onto the battlefield as she uses a bow instead. The bow is alright, but the arrows aren’t fast and neither is she.

8Pitspawn Fouldog

The concept behind this creature is sound. He launches lightning balls that also freeze players on impact. It’s a tough fight for melee players, but the orbs are very easily dodged by anyone with range. Maybe they’ll speed up this attack whenthe changes are rolled out for the remake.

7Cow King

The Cow King is part of the infamous Cow Level that existed as a rumor for months before it was officially added into the game. Whether playingthe worst or the best class inDiablo 2, the king is conquered with the help of lightning resistance, but due to the way rare drops work, the community actually recommends never killing this boss so the level can be replayed.

This is where the super uniques start to really flex their muscles. Treehead Woodfist is both strong and fast, giving him extra damage and making it easier for him to close the gap with ranged characters. Armored players will find this isn’t too bad, but lightweights will need to be crafty to survive.

5The Smith

Like the last entry on this list, The Smith packs a punch. He moves about as fast even though Extra Fast is not an official modifier. He’d be higher up on this list if it weren’t for his most glaring flaw: he can be evaded entirely. The items players need can be grabbed without needing to play into his melee combat fantasies.

4Bonebreaker

Skeletons are usually completely harmless and even putting a shield on them doesn’t exactly strike fear into the hearts of gamers. But Bonebreaker has all of his bases covered as the shield will reduce ranged and melee attacks while the Maric Resistant bonus takes spellcasters out of the picture. Plus, he’s got the Extra Strong buff going so players that require going into melee range will be in for a bruising.
