FromSoftware is famous for its visually unique character and location designs. Usually this applies to its more gothic or gruesome elements, as the term “Dark Soulsboss” has now become internet shorthand for describing anything that is visually bizarre or horrific enough to call to mind the many unique bosses in that series. This emphasis on visual design has carried over to FromSoftware’s latest gameElden Ring. But FromSoftware’s designs don’t only include horrific monsters, in fact many ofElden Ring’s designs can be seen as quite endearing.
Some designs can be unique and strange, but still quite pleasing to look at. For example, the design of theElden RingNPC character Iron Fist Alexander, who is a giant expressionless jar with arms and legs. Players who feel inspired by the game to make things in real life are more likely to latch on to this kind of design.

One such Reddit user has done just this, by crocheting their own Walking Mausoleum from the game. The Walking Mausoleums are another ofElden Ring’s unique visual designsthat are more interesting than horrific, which makes it perfect for an adorable crocheted design. The mini-mausoleum was made by Reddit user SunnyG who also has an Instagram named sunnyg_stitches, where they post images of their many impressively crocheted videogame recreations.
The crocheted mausoleum is delightfully cartoony and exaggerated at first glance. However, a closer look reveals just how much detail went into making the miniature Walking Mausoleum. Green yarn has been worked into the project to simulate the moss and grass covering the top of the stone legs. While other details like the tree that grows on the base of the mausoleum have also been added. Perhaps the most impressive detail is the crocheted bell that hangs underneath the Walking Mausoleum, which in game would ring out with every step the giant stone being takes.
The Walking Mausoleums inElden Ringare found stomping around various parts of the game’s massive open world, and can be used by players to duplicate the remembrances received fromElden Ring’s major boss fights. Although theWalking Mausoleums can be lethal if the player or anyone else gets in the wayof its giant stone feet, they are usually considered fairly harmless, albeit active elements ofElden Ring’s scenery.
The Walking Mausoleum’s unique design makes it instantly recognizable to players ofElden Ring, and perfect for a creative real-life recreation in yarn. There are many visually distinct designs found in the game, but a charming stone-legged building is a lot more appealing to have on display thansome other horrific designs found inElden Ring.
Elden Ringis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
