The world ofElden Ringis a brutal and unforgiving place, and one crafty invader has turned nature against their foes by literally dropping an enemy player into a hungry pack of Lone Wolves. Despite what their name may suggest, Lone Wolves actually hunt and live in packs much like their real-life counterparts. WhileLone Wolves can be surprisingly cuteunder the right circumstances, they are every bit as dangerous to a Tarnished as any other creature that roams the harsh environment of the Lands Between.

Sure enough, this environment is punishing to newcomers, as FromSoftware’s trademark difficulty is present and accounted for inElden Ring. However, while players often meet a brutal end at the hands of dangerous foes like Malenia, Blade of Miquella,Elden Ring’s open-world nature also allows for the freedom to come up with creative and unique ways to defeat enemies. Some of these tricks involve turning the world around an opponent against it, as was the case when aFlame Chariot was sent tumbling off a cliffto its doom.

A Reddit user by the handle of ColdrenSFC recently shared their own story of knocking an opposingElden Ringplayer off a ledge - but instead of an endless abyss, they found a pack of Lone Wolves waiting below. As shown in a brief video they posted to r/EldenRinga few days ago, ColdrenSFC spawned alongside their would-be victim, and the pair ventured off into a cave together. There they found the wolves resting by a campfire. In a surprising act of betrayal, ColdrenSFC stabs the other player in the back and pushes them off down to the now-alerted wolves - who then attack them until their health depletes.

As shown in the example above,Elden Ring’s multiplayer can be just as treacherousas its solo campaign, with players often striking each other down in sneaky and creative ways. One co-op player found themself betrayed by their partner after a grueling battle against Malenia, Blade of Miquella, while others have come across strange in-game cults or found themselves ambushed in the sinister Lake of Rot. Truly anything can happen thanks toElden Ring’s open-world sandbox, which is one of the many reasons for the game becoming one of the most critically acclaimed releases of 2022.

Even a full year afterElden Ringlaunched to record-breaking salesand multiple Game of the Year Awards, fans are still coming up with interesting ways to take down enemies - be they computer-controlled monsters or human opponents unwittingly setting themselves up for a gruesome end. ColdrenSFC musses that the victim of their spontaneous Lone Wolf trap is new to FromSoftware games likeElden Ring, and their sudden betrayal and demise is an introduction that very few would forget.

Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
