Ada Wongis one of theResident Evilfranchise’s most iconic characters, known for her femme fatale nature. She works as a corporate spy for ‘the organization’, a rival company to Umbrella and developer of bioweapons, and is often hired to complete difficult, heartless tasks that have been the leading cause of many deaths and bioterrorism attacks alike over the years.
Though not a typical heroic protagonist, Ada has slowly become one of the most notableanti-heroesin gaming history. She’s a character that has become a staple of the series, with fans demanding her return for every new project; however, whichResident Evilgames feature Ada Wong?
Updated July 21, 2025 by Mark Sammut:Ada Wong is one of Resident Evil’s most recognizable characters, and she has featured in a wide plethora of entries in the franchise. She has even gotten a few solo campaigns, including a2023 Resident Evil 4 DLC.
Resident Evil 2is the tale ofClaire Redfieldand Leon Kennedy, which initially came out in 1998 before receiving a successful remaster in 2019. Ada plays a major role in this storyline, posing as Leon’s ally and later betraying him so that she can fulfill her orders to find a sample of the G-Virus.
Whilst she is mainly a supporting character within this game, she briefly becomes playable: first, when the player chases Annette, and again, when they must solve a puzzle to obtain the club key. Although not canon, Ada is a playable character in the Extreme Battle mini-game, which is basically a survival mode where players have to collect and plant bombs.
Resident Evil 4is a survival horror game, originally released in 2005 and later remade in 2023. The story follows, now, special agent Leon Kennedy on his mission to rescue the US president’s daughter,Ashley Graham, from a religious cult in Spain.
Ada Wong plays a huge part in the game’s story and is one of its main characters. She is once again working with the enemy, Wesker; however, this time, they are trying to obtain the Las Plagas virus – a parasite that essentially transforms its victims into human puppets. Given the pair’s chemistry, both she and Leon work together occasionally (and in Leon’s case, reluctantly) throughoutResident Evil 4, often coming to one another’s rescue. Ada isn’t a playable character in the main campaign but in the original game, when the main story is completed, players can play as Ada in her own timeline of events through the mini-game titled “Separate Ways.”
In theResident Evil 4remake, Ada’s role is largely the same, and that includes being promoted to a protagonist in the “Separate Ways” campaign. However, unlike the original game, the remake split Ada’s storyline into DLC, granting her more time in the spotlight. While the gameplay is largely identical to the base game, “Separate Ways” gives Ada a grappling hook that gradually expands her movement options.
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chroniclesessentially retells the plot of the first three games except this time in much more depth, adding key events to the existing timeline to allow players to fully understand how exactly Umbrella came to an end. The game differs from the original three in the sense that the story is now narrated by Wesker and is played from afirst-person perspective.
Ada is the main playable character in the scenario ‘Death’s Door’ – a mission that follows Ada’s journey in bringing the G-Virus sample back to Wesker, despite being heavily injured after her fall, and escaping Raccoon City before it is bombed.
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chroniclescame out as part of theResident Evil: Chronicles HD Collection. LikeUmbrella Chronicles, the plot retells the story of two previous games:Resident Evil 2andCode: Veronica, with an included third act that merges the two storylines together.
Ada doesn’t appear as a playable character in this game, but she does feature as a supporting character in chapters 3,5 and 6 of the ‘Memories of a Lost City’ scenario – a mission that, of course, retells the story ofResident Evil 2, the game which involved Ada’s arguably most iconic appearance yet.
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon Cityis completely unrelated to the timeline and entirely non-canon. It follows the story of two opposing teams: the Delta Force, who must destroy any data regarding Umbrella’s involvement with the T-Virus outbreak, and Echo Six, who (contrary to that) must acquire evidence that’ll instead incriminate them.
The Delta Force will encounter Ada in the laboratory, before the explosion, where it is ordered they eliminate her – Ada, however, escapes. In this game, the player must fight Ada in a boss battle where she uses a combination of both firepower and grenades. Once the player reaches her, Ada will run, resulting in a chase through the lab.
Ada is also a playable character in ‘Heroes Mode’, a competitive multiplayer mode also featured within the game.
Resident Evil 6is a third-person shooter that, likeOperation Raccoon City, was released in 2012. The plot follows the story of its four main protagonists and their individual journeys, played through separate campaigns, most involving the confrontation of those responsible for a worldwide bioterrorism attack.
Ada is one of four playable characters withinResident Evil 6, although, she appears once again as more of an anti-hero/anti-villain, working for ‘Neo-Umbrella’, a group whose core aim is total world destruction. Her campaign revolves around her mission of finding Carla Radames, founder of Neo-Umbrella, and Derek Simmons, leader of ‘The Family’ in order to ultimately search for, and destroy, any evidence of her involvement with bioterrorism.
Resident Evil: Re:Verse, a very different addition to the franchise, was released in 2022 and is an online survival revenge battle game in which two to six players must fight to the death. It involves a fan-favoritecast of charactersthat players can play as, all of which have a unique set of abilities.
Ada Wong is one of many iconic playable human characters within the game, equipped with a handgun and crossbow. She also has a powerful set of skills, all of which makes her exceptionally great at dodging damage, including “Pipe Bomb Arrow” and “Somersault Kick.” Her passive ability, “A Spy’s Wisdom,” allows her dodge stamina to be slightly restored when the player’s health is critical.
