Nintendo and Intelligent Systems announce thatFire Emblem Engageis getting a manga adaptation.Fire Emblem Engageis the recently released mainline entry in the long-running franchise, featuring a brand-new protagonist known as Alear, the Divine Dragon. After a thousand years of slumber, they awaken and realize that they have lost their memories. To regain them, they must journey to reclaim the 12 Emblem Rings, which are the keys to their past. These rings contain the souls ofpastFire Emblemprotagoniststhat have been summoned from another world, such as Marth, Celica, and Ike.Accompanying this recent release is a manga adaptation that will begin serialization in Saikyo Jump, a monthly manga magazine released in Japan. These are usually for spin-off manga series related to bigger properties, such as theSuper Dragon Ball HeroesseriesandMy Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions, among others.Fire Emblem Engage’s manga serialization will begin next month, with its prologue chapter debuting July 27, 2025 and its first chapter premiering on May 26, 2025.RELATED:Fire Emblem Engage Reveals Patch Notes for Day 1 UpdateThis manga adaptation will be helmed by mangaka Kazurou Kyou, whose previous works includedDead-end-Host,Himedoll!!, andHoukago Idol. In terms of the leading character, it will be usingthe male version ofEngage’s protagonist Alear, who was shown off in a special illustration by Kyou. Since the manga is being released through Saikyo Jump, chapters will be coming out on a monthly basis.

The first three chapters of theFire Emblem Engagemanga will be free to read on Weekly Shonen Jump Plus. Any chapters released after that will only be available for free for three weeks and will require an account and subscription to the service if fans wish to re-read the old chapters or catch up on ones that they had missed. Since this manga is an adaptation of the game, players should expect a condensed version of the game’s events. As a teaser before its official release next month, Nintendo included a few pages of the manga adaptation, showing Alear still sleeping and a flashback to events of the past.

This isn’t the first timetheFire Emblemserieshas had a manga adaptation, with many past games likeGenealogy of the Holy WarandBinding Bladegetting ones that lasted for a couple of years after release. Recent manga released after aFire Emblemgame’s release have been more comedic, in-joke and gag-focused 4-panel styled strips, withFire Emblem Heroeshaving an officially licensed one that is still ongoing to this day. This new adaptation focused onEngageshould be a refreshing read for those who are curious or enjoyed the game.
