The recently releasedDead Spaceremake becomes more horrific than usual due to a bug someone found that sparked a lot of frustration. Even if the game is a remake of the original, it’s not too far-fetched to find bugs that were never in the 2008 classic. With so much changed, a frustrating bug that halts progress can still be found, even with a good quality assurance team. Some things just happen to slip by, which is what happened to one player as they faced a famous opponent in the remadeDead Space.

In both the original and the remake ofDead Space, in Chapter 5, Isaac Clarke encounters a tough opponent known as a Hunter. Similar toMr. X fromResident Evil 2, this being is indestructible aside from certain points in the game. The Hunter can regenerate the limbs that the player shoots off, something that was at that point thought to be a guaranteed way to kill the enemy. Not only that, but it is strong and stalks the area the player encounters it in, drawing more parallels with Mr. X.

It is this combination of factors that have led to the bug found being especially frustrating for those who come across it, unlike some entertainingglitches that make the camera more like old-schoolResident Evil. One Reddit user named Triggernometri143 went to r/Deadspace and posted a picture of the Hunter standing in front of them. They describe a bug where the Hunter is bugged and “completely unresponsive”, and that since its able to regenerate its limbs, there’s no chance to dismember it and slide past, as they will just grow back and continue to block the path. The user has tried everything to fix it, from reloading both manual and auto saves to dying for an auto-reload, yet none seemed to have fixed it.

This user isn’t the first one to come across such a bug, as multiple people in the comments, and reportedly in the Steam discussions, have said they’ve encountered the same bug themselves. Some of them recommended just going the entire way back to take the other path to Medical, while others have suggested stomping past it, which worked for one of the users. Since there are fixes to it, this player is not as unlucky as the one whoonly had stasis packs for the final boss ofDead Space, though an issue like this is still frustrating.

When most games release, bugs and glitches will likely be found, and it’s up to the developer to make sure they are fixed so that the experience is not ruined for others. Bugs could range from something funny like a model glitching out to something as annoying ashits not registering inCall of Duty: Warzone 2, and this is an unfortunate mix of both. Hopefully, Motive will be able to provide a fix soon.

Dead Spaceis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
