Cooldown is an essential part ofGenshin Impactgameplay as each character is limited by this mechanic, in one way or another. With this ability timer, players are basically forced to know how to do a rotation with their party to ensure the most effective route is taken, and no time will be wasted on unnecessary moves such as using Normal attacks with Xingqiu as he waits for his cooldown to be over.
There are some ways players can get around this cooldown issue, but some characters are simply helpless. Players either have to settle with it or bench the character entirely. Both solvable and helpless, here are some of thecharacters inGenshin Impactwith the longest Skill cooldown.

As much as Klee relies on her Elemental Skill to deal damage, she depends more on her Elemental Burst and Basic attack since she’s better at operating as a main DPS. Although Klee has a20s cooldownon her Elemental Skill, she has two charges on her Jumpy Dumpty.This doesn’t feel too bad during the team rotationsince it will feel like Klee will always have mines to spread all over the battlefield.
One of the things that makes Xingqiu good as a Support is his ability to operate as a HydroBattery inGenshin Impacton top of everything else he does. Unfortunately, his Elemental Skill is a one-tap hit that has a21s cooldown.
For a character that operates as a battery and heavily relies on his Elemental Burst, Xingqiu’s Skill should always generate the energy he and his team need. For that, building him on full Energy Recharge is recommended, or just use a Sacrificial Sword on him, and it’ll reset his Elemental Skill’s cooldown.
BeforeZhongli inGenshin Impact, Noelle used to be considered a decent shielder although her Breastplate Skill had24s cooldownwhile her shield stayed up for a mere 12 seconds. That means your DPS will spend 12 seconds without protection, since there’s no way to reduce Noelle’s Breastplate cooldown.
You can use Sacrificial Greatsword to reset the Skill’s cooldown, but that will hurt Noelle’s stats since she’s hungry for those. If shielding is why you’re playing Noelle, it’s better to switch for anothershielder inGenshin Impact.
When Fischl casts her Elemental Skill, she will summon Oz to the field and the rest is history. Oz is a powerful ally for Fischl because he allows her to operate perfectly as a Sub-DPS and Support inGenshin Impact. However, after Casting Nightrider, Fischl’s Elemental Skill will enter its25s cooldownand Oz will only stay for 10 seconds.
Fortunately, the entire idea of Nightrider is to summon Oz, and Fischl’s Elemental Burst can summon Oz as well. That raises the timer of Oz staying on the field for 20 seconds and 24 seconds if Fischl unlocked all her Constellations inGenshin Impact. Basically, despite the long cooldown, players practically have a 100% uptime for Oz.
Even if Arlecchino’s Elemental Skill has a long cooldown of 30 seconds, she’s very comfortable using it because of her utility which helps reduce its timer. When casting Arlecchino’sElemental Burst inGenshin Impact, she will reset the cooldown of All Is Ash and give herself a second run with her flaming Scythe.
Not only resetting her Elemental Skill through her Burst, but Arlecchino can also slowly reduce her Skill’s cooldown when dealing damage with her Pyro-infused Normal attacks. All that makes Arlecchino’s30s cooldownnot that hurtful for her kit.
Qiqi’s Adeptus Art: Herald of Frost lasts for 15 seconds and enters a30s cooldownafter casting. It’s a Skill that slowly spins around the active character and heals them. If Qiqi was the active character during her Herald of Frost state, then her Normal attacks would also heal the entire team.
Adeptus Art: Herald of Frost is a useful Elemental Skill that helps the team recover HP but has a huge cooldown compared to its duration. Luckily, her Elemental Burst can save the day with its massive ongoing healing.
For an Elemental Skill that has a32s cooldown, you’d expect something extraordinary from Barbara. However, it’s just a simple healing Skill that doesn’t really do a good job of healing. Instead, Barbara’s Elemental Skill stays for 15 seconds and you’ll have to wait for 17 seconds after playing without healing.
While under the effect of the Let the Show Begin Elemental Skill, your characters will constantly be affected by Hydro, which willmake them prone to be Electro-Charged, Vaporized, or even worse, Frozen. The self-application can also remove some Elemental debuffs, but most of the time, it’s more harmful than useful.
The Eleventh of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers had and still has, one of the longest Elemental Skill cooldowns inGenshin Impact. When casting his Elemental Skill, Childe unleashes a set of weaponry made of pure water, entering his Melee Stance. During that time, Tartaglia’s Normal and Charged attacks are converted to Hydro DMG for up to 30 seconds duration. After that, Tartaglia’s Elemental Skill will enter its complicated cooldown.
Originally, the Elemental Skill’s cooldown was six seconds, but forevery second Childe spends in his Melee Stance, a second will be added to the cooldown. So, for example, if you stayed 15 seconds in Tartaglia’s Melee Stance, his Skill’s cooldown would be 21 seconds. However, if you manage your timing poorly and drain the entire duration of his Elemental Skill (30 seconds), you’ll get an extra timer for a total of45scooldown.
