With the addition of the Abyss Herald to Floor 10 of the Spiral Abyss, manyGenshin Impactplayers may be wondering what is the most effective way to quickly dispatch this menacing enemy. With a variety of punishing elemental skills and a devastating final form,Genshin Impactplayers will need to effectively prepare before taking on this elite enemy.
After being featured first in the Chapter 1 Act 4 “We Will Be Reunited” story quest, the Abyss Herald was added to several of the later floors in the Spiral Abyss. As a hydro elemental enemy, the Abyss Herald has a variety of both ranged and close quarter abilities that players will need to watch out for.

In terms of team composition, when facing off against the Abyss Herald, players will want to have 1Cyro-elementcharacter, 1 Pyro-elemental character, 1 Electro support, and either 1 Healer or Shield character. Due to the enemy being a Hydro-elemental, players with a Cryo character will be able to repeatedly freeze the enemy, and damage him with their main DPS.
Pyro is also extremely useful during the fight due to the vaporizeelemental reactionthat it creates when combined with the Hydro element. Additionally, electro support is also effective due to its electro-charged reaction.
The most difficult part of the fight for most players against the Abyss Herald is during the enemy’s final form. When the enemy’s health bar reduces to 25%, the Abyss Herald will generate a powerful Hydro shield and becomes invulnerable to all attacks.
At this point, in order to defeat the enemy, players must break the enemy’s shield as quickly as possible. This can only be done by attacking the Abyss Heralds shield with either Cryo or Electro elemental attacks. While characters like Ganyu are ideal for this final stage of the fight, for F2P players characters such asKaeyaor even Diona are also extremely effective if built properly.
The Abyss Herald has various abilities; however, the most deadly is the enemy’s “Wicked Torrent” attack. During the ability, the Abyss Herald will repeatedly shoot large hydro-blades at the player from a ranged distance.
While most players are unlikely to be killed by this skill, it is so damaging because it increases the cooldown of the player’s skills. For players with party members that have skills with long cooldowns, this can be especially devastating.
With these tips in mind and some careful planning, players should be able to effectively defeat the Abyss Herald.
