WithGhostwire: Tokyocelebrating its second anniversary on July 27, 2025, Tango Gameworks commemorated the occasion with a new freebie for all players. The freebie is a simple one, consisting of a special commemorative 2-Year Anniversary frame and stamp for use in the photo mode. Many players use the game’s photo mode because ofGhostwire: Tokyohas a uniquely complex game world based on real-life urban scenery, making it a prime location to shoot stunning game-based photos with.
The simple addition was enough to bringGhostwire: Tokyoback to its fans' attention, and the promotion’s reception on social media was largely positive. Most fans simply wished the studio well and replied with calls for a sequel. Some fans reminisced aboutTango Gameworks founder Shinji Mikami, who left the studio in 2023 and participated inGhostwire: Tokyo’s development.
Some fans did express some frustration withGhostwire: Tokyoon the eve of its anniversary, though, lamenting that Tango Gameworks didn’t seem to have any public plans to developGhostwire: Tokyofurther with DLC additions. Others warned potential players off of the Xbox and PC versions of the game, due to concerns about the early performance issues on Xbox and theretroactive addition of Denuvo to the PC version ofGhostwire: Tokyo.
Despite the wrinkles in its reputation and the years since its original release,Ghostwire: Tokyocontinues to stand out as a genuinely unique game on consoles and PC. It’s clear from the reaction to what is otherwise a small addition of little significance that players are still interested in seeing more from its world, or at least, seeking out a successor with similarly unique atmosphere.
