As the console wars continue to rage on,God of War Ragnarokactor Christopher Judge urges fans to show each other more respect. Debates about which video game console is superior are as old as the industry itself, but more often than not these discussions can lead to toxic arguments over social media. This has only intensified in recent months, thanks in part toMicrosoft’s impending buyout of Activision Blizzardwhich many feel could give Xbox a serious edge over PlayStation due to the former potentially gaining control over highly lucrative franchises likeCall of Duty.

Of course, Sony has a few blockbuster first-party titles of its own, and one of the most recent and record-breaking examples isGod of War Ragnarok. The highly-anticipated sequel to Sony Santa Monica’sGod of Warwas met with near-universal acclaim when it finally launched back in November, and has won multiple accolades at events like The Game Awards 2022. Extra praise was given to Christopher Judge’s nuanced performance as Kratos, resulting in him winning the award for Best Performance at The Game Awards.

Christopher Judge recently won even more recognition forhis role as Kratos inGod of War Ragnarokat this week’s BAFTA Games Awards 2023, accepting the award for Performer in a Leading Role. He briefly took to the stage to accept his award, but his speech was much briefer than his lengthy Game Awards 2022 monologue. Judge took a moment to address the fans, telling everyone to “be easier on each other” when it comes to things like console debates. “No matter what platform you love, no matter what game you love, you’re still part of the gaming community, and give each other a break.”

Judge’s words highlighted a verysuccessful awards season forGod of War Ragnarok, as it made history by being nominated for no less than 14 awards at this year’s BAFTA Game Awards. It managed to take home nearly half that number, including those for EE Game of the Year and Performer in a Supporting Role for Laya DeLeon Hayes asGod of War Ragnarok’s Angrboda. However, it did not win the award for Best Game, as that honor went to the retro-style rougelikeVampire Survivors.

Christopher Judge’s similar call for civility and respect among feuding console users fits beautifully withKratos’s character arc inGod of War, as the previously vengeful Ghost of Sparta learned not to resort to violence and anger as a solution to his problems - a lesson he tries to impart on his son Atreus inGod of War Ragnarok. Hopefully gamers can learn this lesson as well when it comes to discussing which console is better than the other, as in the end gaming is ultimately about the games themselves and the talented people that bring them to life.

God of War Ragnarokis available now on PS4 and PS5.
