Thankfully, in theShadow of the ErdtreeDLC, you can expect some answers regarding Marika’s past in theShaman Village. Here’s how you can find this secret location in the DLC expansion.

How To Get To Shaman Village
Getting to the Shaman Village involvesfinding the O Mother Gestureand then performing it before Marika’s statue in theShadow Keep. you may find the O Mother Gesturenear a tree in the Bonny Village. Reaching this village requires exploring the underground tunnels of theMoorth Ruins, and then, climbing a ladder leading to the said village.
With the O Mother Gesture acquired, you must nowreach the Shadow Keep Back Gate Site of Grace, and then head east from Grace to find yourself in a room with Marika’s statue. Performing the O Mother Gesture here will cause Marika’s statue to move, along with the stone door,revealing the path to theHinterland.

Discover the Hinterland Site of Grace, and then ride southeast. Shortly, a Tree Sentinel will ambush you, and you’re able to choose to either kill or evade it. Ride up the rocky slope southeast of the ambush location to reach theShaman Village.
What To Find At Shaman Village
As soon as you step foot in the Shaman Village, a somber, recognizable music begins playing. There are no enemies in this region, so you can explore this village safely. In the middle of the village is a minor erdtree with golden flakes flying off of it. At the foot of the tree is theMinor Erdtreeincantation that you can pick up.
A short distance to the south of the village, you can also pick up theGolden Braid talisman near a Marika-like statue. Reading the descriptions of these items provides additional exposition on Marika’s relationship with this village.
