WithOverwatch 2’s PvP mode finally out for alpha testing, there is a light at the end of the tunnel forOverwatchfans that have been uneasily waiting for good news for the game’s development. Even with those that gained access under NDA (non-disclosure agreements), there was bound to be a leak from theOverwatch 2Alpha. That has occurred now and fans get to have a tiny look at what is to come inOverwatch 2.

The leaked image was posted to Imgur after it was seemingly first posted on the Overwatch League’s Facebook page by mistake, but the post has been deleted. The image shows the Hero Select screen with theOverwatch 25v5 changes. The names on the screen are a bit hard to read, but one name is legible: McGravy. He is currently one of the assistant coaches of theFlorida Mayhem in the Overwatch League. That tracks the legitimacy of the image as currently Overwatch League players, team staff, and other select individuals close to the vest at Blizzard would have access to theOverwatch 2Alpha.

In the damage role, McGravy has selected Soldier: 76, but his character select model looks quite different than what he’s looked like in the previous game.Soldier: 76looks more aged and gruff that his appearance inOverwatch. Soldier: 76 has ditched the mask that covered most of his face in Overwatch and is sporting a thick white beard similar to Reinhardt’s. TheOverwatchteam seems to have taken some liberties in redesigning his facial model for the character select screen. Character redesigns are not a surprise as the new game, being made for PC and consoles with improved capabilities, will be able to show more detail than fans have become accustomed to.

This leaked character select screen also shows off Sojourn’s character select model for the first time, as well as Doomfist’s debut in the Tank role, as previously speculated. Lucio’s character select model is slightly different as the DJ has added more green hard light pieces to his armor, but the full character model does not look different fromOverwatch. Meanwhile, Ana’s hero select looks to be the same. As this is an Alpha build and also not meant to be seen by the public yet, any or all of these character select models can change. Other observations from this leaked image show that the stage, Ilios: Well, is cast in the afternoon light, one of themany new additions coming toOverwatch 2.

As intriguing as this image leak is, it doesn’t tell fans much about the game as a whole. That time will come as the game moves into its Beta testing phase and more fans can see more that just face shots of the heroes. TheOverwatch 2Closed Betawill be out later this spring right before the Overwatch League starts its 5th Season.
