LEGO 2K Driveis designed so that players can beat the game with their starter car, spend hours in the garage fine-tuning their own vehicle, and/or explore the various biomes as a sandbox adventure game. That’s just the tip of the iceberg too, as others may enjoy theparty-like multiplayer games, the various Cup Series players can race in, or sharing creations with the community. As described by creative director Brian Silva in a recent interview with Game Rant, “the real intent of this game is to feel super creative and not restrictive.”

This means giving players plenty of options in LEGO 2K Drivein each of these game modes, and Visual Concepts certainly accomplishes that. In fact,LEGO 2K Drivefeatures over 1000 bricks for players to design whatever they want. When it comes to customization, Visual Concepts wanted it to feel like abig box of LEGOSthat players could do whatever they want with. Some players may want to follow the instruction booklets, but others may just want to build whatever they can imagine.

LEGO 2K Drive’s garage will see players building water, street, and off-road vehicles, which the gameplay will seamlessly transition between when needed. That’s just the start, though, as players are able to make whatever it is they desire. The below images show some of this, but the keyword there is some. According to Silva,

“We have hinges, we have angles, we have stickers, and we have different chassis types. you’re able to do water, street, or off-road. You could build a car, you could build a shoe, or you could build a fruit basket. It doesn’t matter, you can really build anything you want to build.”

No doubt, the visual customization is going to go far for manyLEGOfans, but it is a racing game too. Many racing gamesallow players to customize the performance of their vehicle, and while it is not mandatory to do so inLEGO 2K Drive, there are similar performance customization options for those “more advanced gamers.” Players are able to tweak stats, and there is a perk system that allows them to apply different abilities to vehicles. If players want more boost or more armor too, there are options as players hit the higher tiers. As Silva said,

There’s also a tier system. We have Class C, Class B, and Class A. Once you get to Class A, you can apply a whole collection of parts to your vehicle suited to your liking.

Customization is important inLEGOgames, as well as racing games. It remains to be seen what the community comes up with, but it seems apparent that Visual Concepts was aware of this importance, incorporating a little something for all fans in this regard.
