Depending oneach player’s preferred build, some will opt for an approach based on brute force and melee weapons, whereas others might prefer a more conservative, safer playstyle reliant on various spells to defeat unsuspecting enemies.
From simple ethereal daggers tomassive magic moons of ultimate destruction, any Tarnished willing to spend thousands of Runes to increase their Intelligence will find that there’s no shortage of spells to cast in The Lands Between. However, someElden Ringspells require a higher Intelligence Stat than others.

Upon their journey, players will first encounterRoyal Knight Lorettawhen they, either by accident or on purpose, trespass on the grounds ofCaria Manorin the northern area of Liurnia of the Lakes.Loretta’s Masteryis a spell that allows players to use one of Loretta’s most common attacks. And while defeating her in Caria Manor won’t give players the precious spell, it’s nice to see it in action early on.
To obtain Loreta’s Mastery inElden Ring,players must progress through the story andreach the Haligtree, a secret optional area near the end of the game. There, they’ll re-encounter Loretta, but this time, she’ll be more aggressive, and her Health bar will be more robust. Upon defeat, she’ll drop Loretta’s Mastery, which players can use immediately if they have enough Intelligence.

This potent spell conjures thousands of falling stars that can do massive amounts of damage to any enemies they land on. One of the greatest advantages of this spell is that it covers a wide area, making it very difficult to dodge.
To obtain the Founding Rain of Stars spell, players must defeatMorgott, the Omen Kingin order to unlock the Mountaintops of the Giants area. There, they must travel to the Heretical Rise, where a chest with this Primeval Sorcery will be patiently awaiting them. The FP cost to cast Founding Rain of Stars is relatively low compared to other spells mentioned here, but it does require a considerably high Intelligence Stat.

However, the struggle is well worth it, as those Tarnished who can muster up the courage to dive into this creature’s lair will be rewarded with the powerful spell,Meteorite of Astel.
Found in the Yelough Anix Tunnelnear the Consecrated Snowfieldin the lower plains of the Mountaintops of the Giants,Astel, Stars of Darknesswill drop this spell upon being defeated. Meteorite of Astel can be boosted by theMeteorite Staffand requires a massive 55 Intelligence Stat to cast.

Comet Azuris one of the most powerful Primeval Sorceries inElden Ring, as it not only packs a huge punch right out of the gate but can also be buffed by items, such asAzur’s Glintstone Staff. With the right character stats and buffs, this spell can kill eventhe toughest bossesin the game with a single continuous energy beam.
Players can find Comet Azur by going toMt. Gelmirand talking toPrimeval Sorcerer Azur, who will be sitting near the cliffs in the northeast part of this area. He won’t say anything, so players must insist until they get the mighty spell. With an initial cost of 40 FP to cast and an additional 10 for every second it’s held, Comet Azur isn’t the most efficient sorcery out there, but it’s well worth it.

Ranni the Witch’s life story is complicated. The daughter of Queen Rennala and Radagon, her existence as a demigod has been long and full of obstacles. As an Empyrean, she’s extremely powerful and capable of casting the most devastating spells in The Lands Between; a great example of this isRanni’s Dark Moon. This Full Moon Sorcery conjures a massive dark moon that can be launched at enemies to inflict great damage.
Players who want to cast Ranni’s Dark Moon will have togo to Chelona’s Rise, found on the Moonlight Altar plateau in the southwest area of Liurnia of the Lakes. There, a chest with the spell will be awaiting the brave Tarnished seeking it.

Rennala’s Full Moonis a force to be reckoned with, as it’s a spell that could be considered an improved version of her daughter’s Dark Moon. This sorcery can be obtained by giving theRemembrance of the Full Moon Queento Finger Reader Enia after defeating Rennala at the Raya Lucaria Academy.
Like Ranni’s version of this spell, Rennala’s Full Moon also launches a massive ethereal moon that inflicts great damage onany enemy it touches. On the negative side of things, it has an above-average FP cost of 47 and a staggeringly high Intelligence Stat requirement of 70 to be cast, which is a bit odd considering the spell can be obtained in the early-mid stages of the game.
