Last October, Wizards of the Coast announcedUnsanctioned, the nextMagic: The GatheringUn-set, which will release on February 29. As with previous Un- sets, Unsanctioned will feature brand new black-bordered, full-art basic lands, and indeed many fans have been very excited to get a look at these highly-desirable cards. Fortunately for these players, the wait has come to an end, as all five of theMTGUnsanctioned lands have recently been revealed.
Pictured below, theMagic: The GatheringUnsanctioned lands are sure to remind fans of the full-art lands that were found previously in the Unhinged, Unglued, and Unstable sets. Featuring bold but simple designs, many players will certainly consider these new lands to be the most desirable part of Unsanctioned, and fans should expect to see them appear in decks across a myriad of formats moving forward.

Beyond the artwork found on the Unsanctioned basic lands, the frames are also likely to stand out to those familiar with previous Un- sets. As indicated by SeniorMagicDesigner and Writer atWizards of the CoastGavin Verhey, the goal with these frames was to “pay homage to all of the past Un- land frames at once,” and fans that look at the UND lands carefully will see the influence that the Unhinged, Unglued, and Unstable lands have had on them quite clearly.

With respect to how common thesenew full-artMagic: The Gatheringlandswill be, it is indicated that each box of Unsanctioned will have five regular and five premium copies. These boxes will also contain five 30-card decks, 10 double-sided tokens, and two six-sided dice, and while most of the Unsanctioned cards will be silver-bordered, and thus not tournament-legal, some fans will still find that there is a great deal of fun to be had with this wild newMTGproduct.
For players that may not be interested in picking up boxes of Unsanctioned, these basic lands will certainly be available for purchase as singles from various retailers. While the cost associated with picking the Unsanctioned lands up in this fashion remains to be seen, it is definitely an option that players looking to spruce up theirMagic: The GatheringStandarddecks and beyond may want to consider.
