While everyone inMarvel’s Avengersgets their time to shine, Iron Man’s overall role in the story is a bit smaller than many may have expected. While he has some great moments like his flight to space and the creation of his homemade suit, the character is far from the star of the campaign. Instead, that role goes to Kamala Khan, withheroes like Black Widowand The Hulk assisting her on her journey. However, this was likely an intentional decision on the part of Crystal Dynamics.
WithMarvel’s Avengersattempting to distance itself from theMCU, one clear way to do so is to play down Iron Man’s role in the story. In the live action films, there is no one with as much importance as Tony Stark, as it was Robert Downey Jr’s excellent performance that kickstarted theMCU. There from the beginning, Iron Man’s arc spanned through the Infinity Saga, culminating in Avengers: Endgame as the hero saved the world from Thanos. While Nolan North plays the part well, his Iron Man is a far different character from the on-screen version. That said, withMarvel’s Avengersnow embracing theMCUin terms of its cosmetics, here are a few of the looks that the in-game Tony Stark should take from the on-screen version.

Mark 5 - Iron Man 2
Otherwise known as the “Football” or briefcase suit, this awesome set of Iron Man armor features inIron Man 2. While the film itself is widely considered one of theworst entries in theMCU, it does have a few redeeming qualities, one of which is this armor. Worn by Tony during his first fight with Whiplash, the suit gets an epic introduction via one of the best suit-up sequences in the series. Stark sets the briefcase on the ground, stepping onto it as the suit forms around him. The unique use of silver for a large portion of the armor’s body helps it stand out, as does the lined pattern on the costume.
Mark 6 - Iron Man 2, The Avengers
The Mark 6 suit is worn at the end ofIron Man 2, getting some time to shine in the final battle. While Iron Manfights alongside War Machine, viewers can see all the details of the sleek suit. While some may not be a fan of the bits of silver on the arms and legs, as they provide an unfinished look similar to theSpider-Man: HomecomingIron Man suit, they are not what makes the suit great. Instead, the pyramid-shaped arc reactor is the star of the show here, as it gives the suit a look of its own. With Crystal Dynamics needing to include a “basic” kind ofMCUIron Man suit, purely so players can use the movie’s helmet with the classic color pattern, this is a fine choice.
Mark 7 - The Avengers
With the Mark 6 taking heavy damage via afight with Thorand the siege of the Helicarrier,The Avengers’ final act sees Iron Man donning a fresh suit. Leaping from Stark Tower right at the beginning of the Battle of New York, the armor forms around a free-falling Iron Man during an epic sequence. Seen when Tony Stark wrecks the Chitauri forces and flies to the portal with a nuke on his back, the suit’s time in the spotlight is hard to forget. While it is similar to the Mark 6, it brings back the circular arc reactor. A great touch could see the damaged variant from the iconic team shot included, as there are currently no suits inMarvel’s Avengersthat feature battle damage.
Mark 42 - Iron Man 3
The main suit ofIron Man 3, the Mark 42 is one of the more visuallyappealing Iron Man costumesfrom theMCU. While its functionality sees pieces of the suit flying to Iron Man from anywhere in the world, attaching to his body one by one, this would likely not be added to the game — though it could make for a fine emote. Instead, this shiny gold suit would serve as an awesome cosmetic option, as it includes just the right amount of red to avoid being tacky. Featured in the standout house sequence as well as the “barrel of monkeys” civilian rescue, the suit certainly deserves some love inMarvel’s Avengers.

The Iron Legion Suits - Iron Man 3
The final battle ofIron Man 3sees Tony Stark battling Aldrich Killian, who takes the name of his classic comic book adversary The Mandarin. While the real version of this villain will beappearing insideShang-Chi And the Legend of The Ten Rings, as this twist frustratedMCUfans, the audience was fully satisfied by The House Party Protocol. Calling an army of Iron Man suits to the final battle, Stark has Jarvis control a number of special costumes. Iron Man wears some himself as well, giving them a bit more screentime.
Mark 45 - Avengers: Age of Ultron
Iron Man’s final attireinAvengers: Age of Ultronis the reverse of the Mark 42 fromIron Man 3. Covered almost entirely red, the look is certainly unique, and its not just a color pattern that helps it to stand out. This armor also sees Stark rocking some bulky red arms and an extended chest plate, making it look extremely protective. Its light blue eyes also help it to stand out, as do the intents in every corner of the faceplate. While the thin helmet and bulky armor combo is not for everyone, it could work very well in a video game.
Mark 50 - Avengers: Infinity War
The second-last armor that Tony Stark is seen wearing inside theMCU, the Mark 50 doubles as the franchise’s second-most futuristic suit. While the Mark 42 was clearly inspired by the Extremis armor from the comics, the Mark 50’s similarities to the Bleeding Edge armor are noticeable. Made entirely out of nanomachines, this suit not only allows Stark to make weapons out of thin air, but also boasts a sleek design not seen in other suits. With all the metallic features of the armor gone, every bit of the suit looks skintight and futuristic. The color pattern is similar toAge of Ultron’s Mark 45, as red is used heavily in this costume, and it is impossible not to think of Iron Man’sone-on-one battle with Thanoswhen seeing the outfit.
Mark 85 - Avengers: Endgame
Worn by Iron Man in his finalMCUappearance, the Mark 85 sees Stark rocking a look that is not too dissimilar from the armor worn inAvengers: Infinity War. While the there had been 34 variants between the two films, the Mark 35’s biggest differences are largely cosmetic. Iron Man’s arms and legs are swapped with light gold textures, with the red limited to his chest, waist, and parts of his helmet. A direct callback to the very first Iron Man suit from the comics, this modernized costume would be one of the best skins to include inMarvel’s Avengers. With allthe currently leakedMCUsuitsfocusing onAvengers: Endgame, it would make sense if the firstMCUIron Man suit that is added continues the trend.
