A new entry in theRIDEseries of motorcycle racing video games could be in the works, as developer Milestone SRL has recently filed a trademark forRIDE 5. The last installment,RIDE 4, was released in October 2020, andMilestone has since moved on to other racing game projectsit has maintained over the years.

Released in 2015, the first entry ofRIDEkickstarted a new chapter for Milestone SRL. Having previously developed racing games within the licensed series of World Rally Championship, MotoGP, SBK, and MXGP, the Italian studio finally decided to make its own take in the underserved market fortwo-wheel racerswithRIDE. With each entry ofRIDE, Milestone had always gone to great lengths to make the game feel more realistic.

In a filing to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), Milestone has submitted an application with the intent to trademark a new video game titledRIDE 5, complete with a logo representing the new title. The application was filed on October 18, and is currently under examination. Unfortunately, there is no additional information or proof of a game titledRIDE 5currently being developed, meaning that fans must always keep in mind that this is nothing more than just speculation.

The speculation isn’t without any basis, though, as so far there hasn’t been any newRIDEgame since 2020. Previously, the gap between each entry is around one to two years, as can be seen from the launch of the originalRIDEin 2015, followed byRIDE 2in 2017,RIDE 3in 2018, andRIDE 4in 2020. Since releasingRIDE 4, Milestone has been busy working on and releasing a whole host of licensed racing games, such asHot Wheels Unleashed,MotoGP 22, andSBK 22. It’s possible that Milestone is currently hard at work on finishingRIDE 5for a 2023 release.

Even though there isn’t any information about the game, fans of the series should already have some kind of expectation of what’s to come inRIDE 5, especially regarding its level of realism. In each entry ofRIDE, Milestone has progressively added better graphics, new handling techniques, and additional customization options. The drive for realism has never stopped for theRIDEfranchise, and it could even be further improved if Milestone decided to use Unreal Engine 5 in the development ofRIDE 5, after previously working with Unreal Engine 4 in the last twoRIDEgames.

If anything, the trademark filing forRIDE 5can be seen as Milestone getting all set to proceed with the continuation of its own franchise, especially aftertwo busy years of making licensed video games. Hopefully, it will come sooner than later.

RIDE 4is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
