Summary
Overwatch 2players chat about which of the game’s many heroes they can’t stand to have as teammates. Recently,Overwatch 2has seen the addition of new Support hero Illari, PvE missions, and the new Flashpoint mode along with two new maps.
WithOverwatch 2’s initially controversial move to 5v5 from the original game’s 6v6, it’s more crucial than ever for each player on a team to be an active participant in team fights. As such, a good team composition is one where each of the five heroes are playing side-by-side to make up a frontline and backline fit for facing down the enemy team over the objective, whether that’s the payload, a capture point, or the Push robot TS-1. However, there are some heroes, introduced inOverwatch’s 6v6 era, who are designed to largely be played away from their team, creating their value off in the flanks or disrupting the enemy team’s backline. InOverwatch 2’s new 5v5 format, the frontline absence of these particular heroes can be felt more than ever by frustrated teammates.

A Reddit post by TudoBern23 asked the community which teammate hero picks make them want to leave matches. Out of the top three results, two were tanks: Doomfist and Wrecking Ball, while the third result was theDPS hacker Sombra. According to the players, most of these frustrations have been attributed to annoying behavior from teammates picking these heroes, whether it’s the Doomfist essentially trying to 1v5 the whole enemy team while complaining about their own supports, the Wrecking Ball spamming to be healed, or the Sombra taking too long to get anything done in the flanks.
It’s unsurprising that two Tanks dominate the conversation. If a team has a poorly performing support or DPS player, the other support or DPS can potentially pick up the slack a bit. However, since each team only has one Tank, poor Tank play could lead to a lot of team suffering. Doomfist, Wrecking Ball, and Sombra are three heroes who spend a lot of time away from their teammates, which can cause a lot of frustration for their team facing down the whole enemy frontline while their tank orSombra is off looking for health packsor setting up a flank.
In the right hands these three heroes can be incredibly powerful, but more often than not in Quick Play or lower ranks Doomfist, Sombra, and Wrecking Ball can cause more headaches for teammates than for the opposition. Thankfully, Blizzard has confirmed thatSombra is up next for a full rework. Radical changes to Sombra spending more time with her teammates on the frontline rather than in the flanks for the entire match, which would also give enemy teams a break.
Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
