Summary
After teasing aTransformerscollaboration at the start of Season 11, Blizzard releases a newOverwatch 2trailer showing off the 4 heroes getting new skins, including Reinhardt becoming Optimus Prime. Season 11 brought with it plenty of changes when it arrived back on June 18. Alongside the return of the Pink Mercy skin,Overwatch 2introduced a new Push map called Runasapi, set in Illari’s hometown in Peru. Colosseo also received a rework in Season 11, and Blizzard added a dedicated section for a Community Crafted Arcade mode, which tweaks characters by giving them creative variations and boosts.
However, Season 11 ofOverwatch 2also seems to be heavy on crossover and inspirations. For example,Overwatch 2introduced new character skins based on the fictional Ultrawatch, a theme seemingly based on franchises likeUltramanandPower Rangers. Ana, Wrecking Ball, Cassidy, Reaper, and Sojourn all get heroic costumes to battle Kaiju-inspired Roadhog and Zenyatta, who are controlled by Calamity Express Ashe, who looks very much like the oldPower Rangersvillain, Rita Repulsa. However, attention quickly turned to July 9 as Blizzard teased a major crossover event with Hasbro’sTransformersfranchise.
WhileOverwatch 2fans got a sneak peek at theTransformerscollaboration through a comic, Blizzard finally released a brand-new trailer detailing all of the new skins. Animated in a style that looks pulled right out the 1980s and 90s, the trailer confirms that Ramattra, Illari, Reinhardt, and Bastion are all getting unique cosmetics turning them into iconic Hasbro characters.

Fan reaction to the trailer has been extremely positive, with many praising the animation style Blizzard chose to debut the collaboration, while others have indicated this is the bestTransformerscontent fans have gotten in years. Some fans were surprised it was the newer character Illari selected to get a skin, representing the Autobot Arcee. Others felt giving Bastion a Bumblebee skin was a missed opportunity as it would likely have made a better Soundwave. There were more than a few who wished the collaboration included moreTransformerscharacters, especially Decepticons like a Pharah Starscream to balance out the 3 Autobot characters a bit.
In addition to these new skins,July 9 also sees the return of the Overwatch Summer Gameslimited time event, bringing back modes like Lucioball and Winston Beach Volleyball as well as summer-themed cosmetics. Players will certainly have plenty of new items and cosmetics available in the shop, though many may have gotten a head start on earning Lifeguard Lúcio and Lifeguard Junkrat as premium rewards inside of the Season 11 Battle Pass.
