His face was obscured at the time, but footage of the hacker’s code contained hints featuring the wrestler-actor’s details, like his middle name and birthday. Because of this rumor, fans began to speculate about John Cena’s possible appearance inOverwatch 2as a skin. There’s not much hope for his Enigma character to be a playable hero, as his potential kit is too similar to Sombra’s. Fans have to settle for a cameo in Invasion’s story trailer for now, but they’re valid for wanting to get more Cena content for futureOW2events.

How Overwatch 2 Could Make The Most Out of Their John Cena Collaboration
John Cena is a popular figure among fans of all ages, as older players may remember him from his WWE days, while younger audiences may love his recent action roles. As such, it only makes sense forOverwatch 2to have him return for future collaborations. Askin featuring Cena’s WWE personaor even one of his characters would be a guaranteed hit.
They could dress up either Doomfist or Zarya in Cena’s signature “Never Give Up” or “Word Life” shirts, cargo shorts, basketball shoes, and armbands. The game could even add his iconic “You can’t see me” gesture or even his “Five Knuckle Shuffle” finishing move as an emote, just like whatFortnitedid when they collaborated with the wrestler.Peacemaker, who also appears inMortal Kombat 1, would fit as a Cassidy skin, as Cena also uses a revolver in the movie and show. It could come with an emote of Eagly landing onto his arm or a spray featuringPeacemaker’s upside-down dove logo.
Overwatch 2’s The Enigma Could Continue as a Side Character in Future Content
Some characters inOverwatch 2lore don’t necessarily end up as playable heroes, yet they still play important roles in the game’s story. Dr. Mina Liao and Maximilien are great examples of such side characters.John Cena’s Enigmacould fill a similar role in future story content. He could help end the war by using his hacking skills to figure out how to stop the “God program” that’s been turning Omnics against humanity.
The Enigma could also be theOverwatchteam’s counterpart for Sombra. He can stand as the first line of defense against Sombra’s hacking attempts. Cena’s character could also give Talon a taste of their own medicine with his own brand of cyberattacks.
Overwatch 2devs and designers already gave Cena a fake ability kit featuring skills like “Can’t See Me” and “And His Name Is”, which reference his wrestling career. The latter cancels the enemy’s ability by loudly reminding people what his name is, followed by his theme song. Seeing this in action would add some humor and levity to the game’s lore, which has been quite serious as of late with theOverwatch 2Genesis animated shorts.
The possibilities are nearly limitless when collaborating with performers that are as versatile and well-loved as John Cena. Therefore,Overwatch 2shouldn’t just end with Enigma’s appearance in the Invasion Story Mission trailer. His character reveal onOverwatch’s social media page garnered a ton of attention, which can only attest to how fans would love to see The Champ return for future collaborations.
