Summary

For as sweet asStardew Valley’s Penny may seem, she has heartlessly stopped a player’s rise to financial success by squandering $200,000 worth of Starfruit Wine. In a rather comical anticlimax, theStardew Valleyplayer has learned the hard way not to put all their eggs in one basket or, precisely, to not put all their Starfruit Wine in one room.

Starfruit is a pricey commodity inStardew Valley, which takes 13 days to fully grow from its seed. In fact, it is the second highest-priced crop in the game after Sweet Gem Berry. On top of that, its wine is even pricier and takes additional time to prepare. However, Penny, one of the NPCs inStardew Valleywhom players can establish a relationship with, seems to have a problem with the expensive concoction.

In a recent Reddit post that is attracting a lot of attention, aStardew Valleyplayer shared their misfortune of losing $200,000 in Starfruit Wine, all thanks to theirin-game wife Penny. As mentioned in the post, it all started when the player agreed to Penny’s request to remodel the bedroom, which also happened to house 68 kegs of Starfruit Wine. As per the player, these kegs couldn’t be moved, so they were just looking forward to bottling the wine and selling it the next day.

However, once the player conceded to Penny’s request, the shy tutor did something unthinkable. When the player woke up in-game the next morning, there was not a single keg to be found in the bedroom and not a single dollar worth of Starfruit Wine left. Meanwhile, Penny explained that she was done with her remodeling, which unfortunately included getting rid of all the kegs. Unsurprisingly and rather amusingly, theStardew Valleyplayer also revealed their intention to divorce Pennyover this debacle.

The starfruit wine? Gone, reduced to atoms. Over $200,000 worth, seemingly drunk by Penny or poured out.

Stardew Valley Players React to Penny’s Swift Work with the Starfruit Wine

In the post’s comment section, a host ofStardew Valleyplayersexpressed their thoughts on this incident with great interest. Connecting the dots, a user stated, “Penny hates alcohol. Sounds legit,” and another replied to it, saying, “‘Redoing the bedroom’ was an excuse.” Several players pointed out the player was in the wrong for keeping kegs in the bedroom, especially when they had a child living with them in the game as well.

A few users justified Penny’s actions by underlining that it is implied, in the game, that she had a traumatic time growing up in a household struggling with alcoholism. Going a step further, a user said, “you married the traumatized daughter of an alcoholic and then made alcohol in your bedroom, I hope she divorces you,” adding even more humor to the situation.
