While some of these are familiar, others were introduced in these titles' original incarnations, like fog. Here’show to get and use the Defog HM.

Pastoria City
To get their hands on the Defog HM, players must first make their way to Pastoria City. As the name suggests, it’s less a city and more a pastoral, charming little town right on the edge of the seaside. It’s the home of the Great Marsh Safari Zone and the Pastoria City Gym. That Gym is a players' first stop here on the road to getting the Defog HM. Players mustdefeat Crasher Wake in the Pastoria City Gymandget his badge to be able to use the HM outside of combat, which is essential.
The Great Marsh Safari Zone
After defeating Crasher Wake, players must head into the Great Marsh Safari Zone,Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearl’s take on the Safari Zone series mainstay. Anyone familiar with the Safari Zone aspect of Pokemon may groan at finding Defog inside, as these zones tend to be sprawling and a bit difficult to navigate. Some are impossible to navigate fully without the proper HMs. Fortunately, finding this HM is even easier thanchoosing Dawn’s left or right hand. Justenter the gate and talk to the green-haired NPC standing right there. Defog will be handed over without any further complications.
Using the Defog HM
With the HM firmly in hand and the Fen Badge in their possession, players can now use Defog on the world map. It’s a flying type move, so players are recommended to find a flying type in their roster of Pokemon, like the difficult toencounter Driffloon.
As its name implies, Defog clears out fog from the map, which is useful for several routes throughoutPokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearl. It’s used just like any HM, the same wayCut can cut down trees, and with the fog gone, players can find their way forward and discover new items.
