Summary

APokemonfan and artist has created a paradox form for Rayquaza, the Generation 3 legendary Pokemon that graced the cover ofPokemon Emeraldback in the day. Ever since its debut in the Generation 3Pokemongames, Rayquaza has remained one of the most popular legendary Pokemon in the entire franchise. Rayquaza continues to be popular to this day, and so it’s no surprise that it is often the subject of fan art from thePokemoncommunity.

One popular trend in thePokemoncommunity since the release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetis to create paradox forms for Pokemon that are currently without one. For the uninitiated, paradox Pokemon are a new concept introduced inPokemon Scarlet and Violetthat give ancient or futuristic makeovers to existing Pokemon. Legendary Pokemon seem to be the most popular subjects of these makeovers, with multiple artists trying their hand at creating aparadox form for Rayquaza.

The latest to do so is Reddit user El-psy-congroo-01, who created a future paradox form for Rayquaza as an art commission. Their vision of a future paradox Rayquaza turns the legendary serpent into a robotic dragon named Iron Draco that’s a Flying/Steel-type. Typically,Rayquaza is a Flying/Dragon-type. Not only did El-psy-congroo-01 design a paradox form for Rayquaza, they also revealed what the shiny variant for the creature would look like as well, giving the creature a striking black and gray color scheme.

Rayquaza does not currently have a paradox form in the actualPokemongames, but there’s certainly a chance that one could be made at some point down the line. Game Freak is in the process of adding new paradox legendary Pokemon toPokemon Scarlet and Violetas part of the games' DLC packs, and so it’s possible Rayquaza could be one such featured Pokemon. However, since theseparadox legendarieshave mostly consisted of Generation 2 and Generation 5 creatures, it’s highly unlikely that Rayquaza will be getting a paradox variant in the upcomingPokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC.

As it so happens, thefull Pokedex forPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Teal Mask DLChas already leaked online, and Rayquaza is not part of the equation. That doesn’t mean that a new version of Rayquaza can’t pop up at some point down the line, though. After all, Mega Rayquaza exists, and so Game Freak and The Pokemon Company have already shown a willingness to tweak the iconic Pokemon’s design.
