June is shaping up to be a busy month for the gaming industry. On the tail of a PlayStation Showcase to round out May, there are several major events like the Xbox Games Showcase and Summer Game Fest to look forward to, as well as majorreleases likeFinal Fantasy 16andDiablo 4as well. And of course, subscription services likePS Plusand Xbox Game Pass will be getting new games as well.

It’s impossible to predict what games will come toPS Pluswhen, but there’s usually a clear distinction between games that perform well on a subscription service and those that won’t. For the PS Plus free games every month, it’s about variety and quality, whereas PS Plus Extra and Premium throw quantity into that mix. June will need to come in full force, as while thePS Plus Extra and Premium games were strong in May, the PS Plus free games were not. Either way, here are a handful of games that would likely perform well on the service, with fingers crossed that they make an appearance soon, if not in June.

PS Plus Free Game for June 2023: Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

Multiplayer games have a certain edge on PS Plus because it gives any game an instant community or a bump in said community, but multiplayer doesn’t have to be PvP necessarily either. TheBorderlandsgames have released on PS Plusbefore to great success, and it’s about time Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands received some of that attention as well. It released about a year ago, which may be a tad early, but it remains that its looter shooter elements, co-op gameplay, and overall franchise appeal would make it a perfect addition to the service.

PS Plus Free Game for June 2023: Death’s Door

Strong indies are a must-have for PS Plus, but it is a bit of a tightrope walk. Something too niche is less likely to have the appeal a PS Plus title needs, butDeath’s Doorwould be a good choice. In it, the players are a crow who works as a Reaper, which sounds fitting enough, but the 3D isometric action-adventure game received high praise and comparisons tobeloved titles likeZeldaandDark Souls. That may be said about a lot of tough indie games, but it’s definitely true here.

PS Plus Free Game for June 2023: The Witcher 3

The Witcher 3would be a big addition to the PS Plus service, especially with its well-received PS5 enhancements. CD Projekt Red titles don’t tend to appear on the service, but that could always change. June is as good a time as any, if not better. As many fans know,The Witcherseason 3 will air in June 2023, but unlike past seasons, there’s a bit more reluctance to it going in. It’s bittersweet that it’s Henry Cavill’s last season, and some fans are not necessarily happy with the direction of it. How it’s received ultimately remains to be seen, but having some representation on PS Plus could make sure this part of June is not overlooked.

PS Plus Extra and Premium Wish List for June 2023

The biggest line-up of additions, of course, is thePS Plus Extra and Premium tiers. In some cases, there are nearly-complete franchises on these tiers, but there are a few areas it would be interesting to see the service expand. For example,Man of MedanandLittle Hopeare already on the service, so it makes sense to add House of Ashes sometime soon.Assassin’s Creed 3: LiberationandRatchet and Clank: Size Matterscould continue fleshing out some already available franchises, while it would be interesting to explore the history ofThe Simson PS Plus, with Project Rene in the works after all.

Mortal Kombat 9andMKXwould be great for fans who want to play through the latest saga beforeMortal Kombat 1releases (asMK11is already available), while addingMetal Gear Solidwould be a great way to explore memory lane too. This would be especially true if therumors of aMetal Gear Solid Remakewould be true, and with WWE in a new golden era, it would be great to go back to some of its best games, starting withSmackdown vs. Raw 2008.

But, either way, Sony will reveal the PS Plus free games for June 2023 on May 31 (if not early at thePlayStation Showcase on May 24), and the Extra and Premium tiers will come sometime after. It’ll be an exciting month for fans, and hopefully, Sony leverages PS Plus to add to that excitement too.
