Rainbow Six: Parasite –or as it was formerly known,Rainbow Six: Quarantine–made headlines the other day after an hour of gameplay from the upcoming PVE shooter leaked online. First spotted by VGC, the footage stems from a recent technical test, with a player streaming over 60 minutes of gameplay on Facebook after being invited to join the closed event.
Although Ubisoft has quickly scrubbed the lengthy gameplay session from social media, details about the footage have spread online, with players discussing the major changes to theRainbow Sixformula coming toParasite.It appears the game will function similarly toRainbow Six: Siegewith several significant twists, featuring the same operators but tasking them with fighting AI-controlled Aliens rather than player-controlled human opponents.

The crux of the gameplay will allegedly remain mostly the same. Players must select from a lineup of operators–each allegedly boasting Speed and Armor ratings–and embark on missions as a squad. These infiltrations will see players attempting to successfully complete several objectives, battling back against alien forces as they attempt to fulfill the mission parameters and escape.Rainbow Six:Parasitewill also have an overarching risk vs reward structure, with the map having specific extraction points that players can use to escape with their loot. If they press on, they can collect additional rewards. However, if an operator is killed in action, they’ll be unavailable to use in future matches until they’re revived.
Speaking on the leaked footage,Ubisofthas since issued a statement to Eurogamer, telling the publication “We can confirm this is a glimpse of our upcomingRainbow Sixgame.” According to the publisher, the test footage is a “work in progress,” revealing to the outlet that it will disclose more about the next entry in theRainbow Sixfranchise at a later date.
Rainbow Six: Quarantinewas first announced back in 2019, showcasing a darker, more horror-focused take on the iconic tactical first-person shooter franchise. Earlier this year, it was reported that the team would likely be dropping theQuarantinename, with a leak hitting the web claiming the game was now going byRainbow Six: Parasite.It appearsParasiteis also merely a placeholder for the real title, with Ubisoft telling Eurogamer back in February that an official name would come soon. Ubisoft hasn’t shared much from the game since, although the recent technical tests and the official response from the publisher make it seem as though more could be on the way very soon.
