In a few days,Spirit Untamedis set to hit theaters. Despite almost two decades separating the movies, it is considered a spin-off of the classic animated movie,Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.As a way of celebration, oneRed Dead Redemption 2player opted to recreate a famous scene from the original movie in-game. Sadly, theRed Dead Redemption 2version differs somewhat from the original, awe-inspiring scene.
With a slew ofdifferent horse breeds inRed Dead Redemption 2,jumping across a dried-up creek or a small fence is entirely possible. With the coveted Arabian horse, players could achieve borderline spectacular jumps. But, fans of the 2002 classicSpiritwill recall that the jump near the end of the film is a slightly greater ask. The jump made in the animated film is more than just a creekbed or a small ditch, it’s supposed to be a portion of the Grand Canyon.

While some players will go toextreme lengths to protect their horses, others are not so mindful of their equine companions. Redditor A-Golden-Frog, the player who attempted to recreate the legendarySpiritscene, sits in the latter camp. Despite a valiant effort by both rider and horse to imitate the movie scene, the stunt ultimately sees them both plunge to their untimely demise while barely making it ten feet—a decidedly more realistic result.
Still, the attempt makes for a hilarious clip, and the attention to detail is surprising. The rider appears to have a hairstyle similar to that of Little Creek from the movie, and the horse is more or less the same color as the eponymous Spirit. Since the game’s release, horses have been nearly ubiquitous in odd clips ofRed Dead Redemption 2, exhibiting a disproportionate amount of strange in-game behavior. Just recently, aRed Dead Redemption 2horse got revengefor its rider by dispatching the player who killed him with a swift kick to the ribs.
In another instance of instantaneous karma, a player and their horse dealt a bit oftag-team justice on a would-be horse thiefwith the player knocking the thief unconscious and his horse electing to relieve itself on top of the criminal’s head. So, while fans will have to chalk up A-Golden-Frog’s attempted gorge jump as a failure, they may have to forgive the Redditor for having high expectations ofRed Dead Redemption 2’s horses as they seem to be accomplishing rare feats at every turn.
