British game developer Sumo Digital is celebrating Valentine’s Day 2023 with a new DLC forSackboy: A Big Adventure. The new holiday-themed content is free for allSackboy: A Big Adventureplayers.Sackboy: A Big Adventureis Sony and Sumo Digital’s 2020 spin-off of theLittleBigPlanetseries. Players once again take control of series protagonist Sackboy and guide him through a variety of platforming challenges as he adventures across Craftworld to save it from the villain Vex. It’s the first game in the series to feature full 3D environments. Available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5,Sackboy: A Big Adventuresaw an overall positive reception, earning Metacritic scores in the high 70s and low 80s. The small DLC adds a new Cupid Costume and Emote for players to use in the game. Developers previewed both with a short looping clip in the tweet. The announcement saw a mostly positive reception fromLittleBigPlanetfans. However, some were curious whether Sumo Digital would add a Creative Mode or announcethe rumoredLittleBigPlanet 4.
The Cupid costume turns Sackboy pink, adds a mop of curly blonde hair to his head, and dresses him in an angelic robe that becomes a pillowy cloud around his legs. A quiver and a pair of wings complete the ensemble, while a Cupid’s arrow through his head shows that Sackboy isn’t just spreading the love but also feeling it. Meanwhile, the new emote sees Sackboy catching a heart as it falls from the sky, and then cuddling it for a bit before throwing it back to wherever it came from.
Costumes are a significant part of theLittleBigPlanetfranchise.Sackboy: A Big Adventurefeatures over 60 outfits for players to unlock, with many more available as DLC. These include letting players dress Sackboy up as a wide range of people and things, like characters from franchises, both famous and obscure. This even includes characters fromSony blockbusters likeGod of War Ragnarok,Uncharted,TheLast of Us,Ratchet and Clank, andHorizon Zero Dawn.
The game’s new Valentine’s Day DLC is one of a staggering number ofCostumes and Emotes forSackboy: A Big Adventure. This adorable costume and emote thus seems like a great way to bring the spirit of Valentine’s Day to Sumo Digital’s fabric-lined 3D platformer.
