Summary

WhileMarvel’s Spider-Man 2offers up plenty of great alternate costumes for Peter Parker and Miles Morales to wear while fighting crime, one of the latter’s suits is being derided as one of the worst in the franchise. Just like inMarvel’s Spider-ManandSpider-Man: Miles Moralesbefore it,Spider-Man 2players unlock a variety of outfitsinspired bySpider-Mancomics and movies by completing story missions and collecting Tech Parts. Players can also select alternate color schemes for certain costumes by unlocking their Suit Styles.

The suits themselves have also garnered much praise amongMarvel’s Spider-Man 2players, thanks to fan-favorites like Tobey Maguire’s webbed Symbiote Suit fromSpider-Man 3and Andrew Garfield’s more comic-accurate ensemble fromThe Amazing Spider-Man 2finally being available for Peter after their absence from past games. Miles isn’t lacking in costume variety either, sporting stylishSpider-Man 2outfitslike the Black Panther-inspired Forever Suit and the Programmable Matter Suit from his last playable outing inSpider-Man: Miles Morales. However, one alternateSpider-Man 2costume is sparking fan discussion for all the wrong reasons.

This costume is the Evolved Suit, which Miles can unlock towards the end ofSpider-Man 2’s main story. Contrary to its name, many fans like Reddit user mastadonson feel that this suit is a step down forSpider-Man 2’s young web-slinger, with many posts and comments deriding it for its supposedly ill-fitting Adidas sneakers and open mask that exposes Miles’s hair. Mastadonson has actually called the Evolved Suit “maybe the worst suit from the Spider-Man games,” while another user questioned its effectiveness in concealing Miles’s secret identity from anyone who knows him.

WhileMarvel’s Spider-Man 2has quickly become one ofdeveloper Insomniac’s most acclaimed titlesfollowing its launch on the PS5 a few days ago, it hasn’t been without its share of controversy. Aside from Miles’s now-infamous Evolved Suit, fans have criticized Insomniac for mistakenly putting a Cuban flag in Miles’s house instead of the proper Puerto Rican one - an oversight that the developer has since promised to fix. Players have also reported many bugs and glitches, including one that turns Miles into a floating white cube.

SomeSpider-Man 2fans would argue that this look is still an improvement over the controversial Evolved Suit, which has drawn much criticism for its unusual design.Spider-Man 2features a great deal of varietyin its unlockable costumes, with even more on the way thanks to a post-launch collaboration of notable fashion and sports figures. With that many costumes to choose from, at least one of them was bound to be a misfire - and it seems that Miles’s Evolved Suit is just that outfit.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2releases on October 20, exclusively for PS5.
