Since mining is one of the main ways to harvest natural resources inStardew Valley, players will likely find themselves doing a lot of pickaxe-swinging. While breaking rocks and boulders on one’s farm can be a convenient way to gather stone-borne goods, it’s often more efficient to seek out spots where rarer gems have a better chance to spawn.
Out of all the locations inStardew Valley, the Quarry is one of the best places to do some mining, as it offers the greatest surface area with rocks, boulders, and other nodes to harvest. However, it will take some work to unlock, so players will need to perform a few tasks before being able to mine the Quarry for its goods.

Updated on August 07, 2025 by Renri Seong:Stardew Valleyplayers who want to level up their mining skills without diving into the mines should visit the Quarry. The Quarry is a region in Stardew Valley that won’t be readily available in your first year. There are two ways to unlock the Quarry depending on what you choose to do with Pelican Town’s Community Center. Regardless of your methods, the Quarry houses ore, stone, and even gems that can be useful if you’re in the early-mid stages of your playthrough. The following guide has been revamped to include Quarry-related information inStardew Valley’s 1.6 version.
How To Unlock The Quarry
Community Center vs. Joja Mart
To get to the Quarry, you’ll need to repair the bridge on theeast sideof theMountainsarea, near the Adventurer’s Guild. The bridge can be repaired through theCommunity Center Bundlesor theJoja Community Development Form.
If you want the Quarry as soon as possible, then you’re better off going the Joja route, since the Community Center will take longer. However, the Community Center route gives you rewards for completing each bundle, which can be helpful on a first playthrough.

How To Complete The Craft Room Bundles
To get the Quarry through the Community Center, you’ll need tocomplete all the bundles for the Crafts Room. This is the room where you obtain the golden scroll for the “Rat Problem” quest. Craft Room bundles require foraging items such as Winter Root, Red Mushroom, and Stone. Here’s whatyou’ll need to complete the Crafts Room:

x5 Autumn’s Bounty
How To Buy The Bridge From The Joja Community Development Form
If you paid for a Joja Membership at JojaMart for 5000g, then the Community Center will be replaced with the Joja Warehouse. To complete the restoration projects, you’ll need to speak to Morris in JojaMart and pay for any of the five repairs through theJoja Community Development Form. Unlike bundles, you’re not restricted by season-exclusive resources, so you can choose what to repair in any order you like…if you have the funds.
To restore the bridge to the Quarry, you’ll need to pay25000g. This is the third-cheapest option on the development form. However, you’re able to potentially have the bridge fixed before winter, which you wouldn’t be able to do if you went the Community Center route.
Where to Find the Quarry
Every Spawn in the Quarry
If you look on the map, the Quarry isin the northeast corner(refer to the red circle in the above image). As mentioned earlier, you can get to the Quarry by headingeast from the Adventurer’s Guildoutside theMinesin theMountains(north of Pelican Town).
Rocks, gem deposits, ore deposits, and trees spawn in the Quarry. To get the most out of the Quarry, you shouldmine every rock and cut down every treeso that new resources can spawn the following day. Since the Quarry is isolated from Pelican Town and doesn’t receive any visitors, you canplace machinessuch as the Mayonnaise Machineif you need more room. Try to place it around the edges so it doesn’t interfere with Quarry’s respawns.
You might also findArtifact Spots,Seed Spots,andoak/maple tree sproutsin the Quarry. You should clear these wtih the hoe and axe respectively to make room for more spawns.
The Quarry Mines 1.6 (Golden Scythe)
North of the Quarry bridge is a cave that leads to the Quarry Mines. Unlike the regular mines, the floor layout isn’t randomized. As of 1.6, there’s a new path you can take in the Quarry Mine to reach the end. The only monsters that appear in the Quarry Mine are skeleton mages, skeleton (dangerous), Haunted Skulls, and copper/iron Slimes.
If you manage tomake it to the endof the Quarry Mine, you’ll find a statue of the Grim Reaper holding a Golden Scythe.Take it from the statue, theninteract with the statue againto be warped back to the Quarry Mine’s entrance.
