Summary

Bethesda Game Studios' space-faring sci-fi RPG,Starfield, has been garnering some positive praise after its latest update has players pleased. Despite launching with significantly fewer bugs than past BGS titles,Starfield’s release was still met with criticism over its aging game engine, abundance of loading screens, and its somewhat outdated Bethesda RPG game design.

Just recently,Bethesda released Update 1.11.36 forStarfield, which brought tons of big improvements to the sci-fi RPG. Most notable is the newfound ability for Xbox Series X users to enjoy the game at 60 FPS, a feature many feelStarfieldwas sorely missing at launch. Players who struggled to find their way around the game’s many cities have also been appeased with an updated surface map system, which includes several new map icons for the game’s various shops and vendors. An interior ship design mode is another big feature of the latest update, pleasing fans ofStarfield’s already incredible shipbuilding system.

It seems like Bethesda has finally struck gold with this most recent update, as these improvements are being celebrated by the community online. One Reddit post in particular, made by Embarrassed_Term4458, shared a screenshot ofStarfield’s Gameplay Options settings menu, praising the amount of gameplay elements that can be tweaked and adjusted, and claimingthe update isStarfield’s best so far. Many fans agreed under the post, listing their own favorite improvements, such as the option for players to endure harsher environmental damage while exploring planets, thus needing to take the proper precautions, or the ability to access their ships' cargo inventory on the go.

Starfield Players Praise The Game’s Latest Update

It’s clear that this update is abig step in the right direction forStarfieldand sentiment surrounding the game seems to be turning around. With that said, there are still some elements of the game fans are hoping will be improved. The most notable remaining hurdle is the game’s fast travel system and the number of loading screens players must see while traveling to different locations. Currently, entering or exiting one’s ship while it’s parked on a planet’s surface triggers a loading screen. On PC and Xbox Series X, these screens blink by in a flash; it’s the number of them that can occur back to back in such short succession that can create headaches. Trekking across planet surfaces on foot has also caused grief across theStarfieldcommunity, and thankfully, Bethesda has confirmed land vehicles are on the way at some point down the road.

Bethesda seems to be doing a solid job of gettingStarfieldin shape for itsupcoming Shattered Space DLC, which the game’s director Todd Howard recently confirmed is coming this Fall. There’s been a lot of speculation and mystery surrounding the DLC and whether it’ll feature the antagonistic faction House Va’ruun, or if it’ll finally add the previously confirmed land vehicles to the game. Fans will likely learn more about Shattered Space at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9.
