Capcom’s finalStreet Fighter 5update has now arrived to itsChampion Edition. Titled the “Definitive Update,” players can expect a plethora of content and cosmetic additions toStreet Fighter 5: Champion Edition.Launched in 2016,Street Fighter 5initially met with lower reception than anticipated. Though gamers responded better to its follow-up versions,Street Fighter 5: Arcade EditionandStreet Fighter 5: Champion Edition. Now, with theannouncement ofStreet Fighter 6, Capcom is looking to bring things to a close withStreet Fighter 5and focus its efforts on the upcoming title. As such, the company released its Definitive Update today for players, with sizable content accompanied by a whopping 79-page patch note.RELATED:EVO 2022 Fighting Game LineupAs previously announced by Capcom, theDefinitive Update forStreet Fighter 5: Champion Editionincludes a new battle balance update, cel-shading filter, pixel filter, and CAP-JAMS Remixes in-game among others. The pixel filter adds the classic arcade aesthetic to the game, offering players the nostalgic look and feel of theStreet Fighterseries. The cel-shading feature, on the other hand, splashes the gameplay with a deeper vibrancy that noticeably stylizes and enhancesStreet Fighter 5’s visuals. Both cel-shading and pixel filters will only work during offline play. The final update also comes with five new songs from the Cap-Jams team.
According to the 79 pages of patch notes, each character has undergone changes to varying degrees where players could expect some noticeable changes to the gameplay. Additionally, the 2022 Premier Pass will add two fighter profile themes, 10,000 Fight Money, recolors for all of its 45 characters along with new costumes forM. Bison, Akira, and Seth. Players can also expect every character to receive new tracksuits during the upcoming Capcom Pro Tour.
With the Definitive Update going live, Capcom will likely move to increase its efforts on the sixth main entry to the franchise. Back in February, the company officially revealedStreet Fighter 6, despite many assuming aResident Evil VillageDLCannouncement. As per Capcom,Street Fighter 6is currently in development with little indication of an official release date. However, the publisher stated that more details will be revealed by Summer 2022. Capcom will also be launching itsCapcom Fighting Collection, a compilation of ten iconic fighting game titles, by late June 2022. It’s likely that fans can expect moreStreet Fighter 6news during the same time frame.
