With Henry Cavill’s Superman and Ben Affleck’s Batman up in the air about their return, fans have been uncertain as to what the future holds for these characters. However, a new rumor says thatSupergirlwill become the new lead Kryptonian. Reportedly, Sahsa Calle’s Supergirl will be getting her own show on HBO Max that will supposedly feature Michael Keaton’s Batman.
The upcomingFlashfilm will mark the introduction of Calle’sSupergirl,and the film will also re-introduce Keaton’s Batman. How this fits in the DCEU continuity is not yet understood or known by fans, but what people have been speculating is that this film will either involve time travel or venture into the multiverse territory consideringAffleck’s Batman was reportedto be making an appearance.

According to That Hashtag Show’s sources, Warner Bros. originally intended to release a Supergirl film as an HBO Max exclusive. However, as the project developed, the plan was changed to produce a seriesfocused on Calle’s Supergirlin order to tell the story the writers wanted in a longer format. Allegedly, the series will focus on Supergirl’s life before the events ofThe Flashfilm, providing insight into her training and the development of her powers. The outlet also claims other DC characters might appear in the show, with the exception of Superman. Plus, while there’s supposedly a strong chance of Keaton’s Batman appearing in the series, a younger actor might be sought for the role.
Reportedly, theSupergirlshow serves as a prequel to theFlashfilm and will show what she did to end up in the film in the first place. If the rumors ofKeaton’s Batman being involvedin the project hold true, then what does that mean for how they become friends? Are they in the same timeline? DidSupergirl end up in the wrong timeline?
This is all yet to be confirmed, so take this with as much certainty as needed. Michael B. Jordan is also set to produce an HBO Max project followingthe Superman from Earth 2known as Val-Zod, who is an African-American superhero with identical powers to Clark Kent. There are currently fan castings for who fans want to see in the role, but with Jordan’s involvement, they can be assured that it will go to the right actor.
The best way for DC to go about this is to keep an open mind moving forward. Keep the doors open for more actors to return to their roles, don’t unwrite what Zack Snyder started, and don’t recast the roles that were established. Continue telling these other solo stories and if the continuity is restored to what it once was, then the actors may consider returning.
