It seems like media franchises love to add a bit of a younger touch to their already popular properties. FromMuppet Babiesto thatAvengersmobile game set in a school for some reason, it always seems to bring in a whole new audience to enjoy these gargantuan series. But the aforementioned add-ons took place in fictional worlds that already appealed to large groups of children and families. Well, that’s where Amazon’sThe Boyscomes in to shake things up.
While the gore-loving public continues to wait forseason 3 of Amazon’sThe Boysto finally drop, fans can enjoy a little consolation prize in the form of a new spinoff series coming to that dark superhero universe. Set in a college for young superpowered individuals, the show will offer a new perspective on the cynical world fans ofThe Boyshave grown to love, but with all the wit, heart, and pushing of the envelope that one would expect from the franchise that ended its 2nd season the way it did.

The spinoff is currently unnamed, though the concept is pretty well set in stone. As with most big things in the world ofThe Boys, the college is operated by Vought International. So audiences can expect plenty of sinister intentions behind the apparently benevolent idea of a school for superheroes.This is noSky High. The series aims to be every bit as dark and raunchy as its parent show, except with younger characters.
While the series will retainThe Boysshowrunner Eric Kripke as an executive producer, it will also bring on its own team to helm things. The showrunners will be Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas, both of whom served as executive producers onLaw & Order: Special Victims UnitandMarvel’sAgent Carter, among other projects. So they’ve definitely got the action and drama down. Kripke recently spoke about the series, saying “It’s our take on a college show, with an ensemble of fascinating, complicated, and sometimes deadly Young Supes. Michele and Tara are stone-cold geniuses, we’re thrilled to have them steer this ship, and grateful to Sony and Amazon for the opportunity. We love this show and can’t wait for you to see it.”
Aside fromthe folks behind the camera, the spinoff will star Jaz Sinclair, Shane Paul McGhie, Lizze Broadway, Reina Hardesty, Aimee Carrero, and Maddie Phillips among its cast of students and, presumably, likely less than trustworthy faculty. Details are sparse aside from the cast and premise, but considering Kripke is involved, it’s sure to be yet another shockingly enjoyable entry in the now-growing universe ofThe Boys.
Unfortunately, there’s still no confirmed release date forThe Boysseason 3, so that’s one more thing fans will have to wait for. But luckily, the season recently finished filming, so hopefully, the bloody masses won’t have to wait much longer before hearing some news. Just don’t hold all that anticipation in so much that heads start exploding.
