An odd connection and premise to be sure, as the originalPUBGis a battle royale game that is not known for building lore or a narrative, but this game is one of many games currently in development that are under the IP’s umbrella.
Even ifThe Callisto Protocoland its connection toPUBGseem odd, many fans were impressed at the first cinematic trailer that was shown. Some noted that it carried the same vibes that the critically acclaimedDead Spacefranchise had during its peak. While development on the game has been silent for the most part, Schofield has noted that it has been going rather well and has shared his excitement with fans over how it’s coming together.

The developer had shared this enthusiasm over social media with a piece of concept art forThe Callisto Protocolthat looks suitably spooky. The picture posted on Twitter has a decaying room filled with fog and mist, complete with only a few sources of light. However, what can be seen is a rotten and zombielike enemy, who has their entire face removed and hand stuck in between a railing.
Schofield noted that he found this piece while rummaging through the concept art files that were drafted by the game’s art team. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the team for bringing the game’s setting to life, as well as excitement about the game’s progress. Notably, he says that it’s almost time to show fans “the real thing,” which might indicate thatmore news aboutThe Callisto Protocolcould be coming soon.
Despite the quiet updates that The Callisto Protocol had during its development cycle, there are still plenty of fans who are excited about this survival horror game. Since the game is being developed by one of the minds behindDead Space, some think thatThe Callisto Protocolhas the potential to surpass its predecessor.Dead Spaceitself is also going to make a comebackas well, as its upcoming remake is set to release early next year, which will make for some interesting comparisons when both these games launch.
