While theTransformersmovies haven’t always been met with critical acclaim, the lead for the upcoming installment thinks things have changed for the franchise. Anthony Ramos recently said that he believesBumblebeehas changed the calculus for the next installment and beyond, for the better.
Theearlier Michael BayTransformersmovieshave had a wide-ranging cast of male leads. From Shia LaBeouf to Mark Wahlberg, the focus for the most part has been on the action and the giant robots clashing as much as possible. ThenBumblebeecame along, and the prequel focused more on one particular Autobot and worked to tell his backstory. Now, Ramos believes thatBumblebeecan and will serve as a kind of blueprint for upcoming films in theTransformersuniverse.

Ramos gave a recent interview about the nextTransformersmovie toVariety, where he said that fans should expect something different. TheIn The Heightsstarrecently saw his latest project hit the big screen - and small screen on HBO Max - and said he’s now ready to turn his attention to starring in the next film centered on the giant robot aliens. He said that both he and co-star Dominique Fishback are going to offer something quite different from what fans have seen from LaBeouf, Wahlberg, andBumblebee’s Hailee Steinfeld.
Ramos also said that whenfans get to seeTransformers 7, they’ll understand that new director Steven Caple Jr. is “a visionary.” Furthermore, Ramos added that he can’t wait for people to see the director “flex” and show what he has up his sleeves for the next installment in the long-running series.
For now, just what the next film is going to show is very much under wraps.Other than Autobots fighting Decepticons,Transformers 7plot details have been kept close to the vest by the studio and cast. There has been one character confirmed for the next movie though, as Autobot leader Optimus Prime will feature prominently in the story.
There are actually twoTransformersmovies currently in development, with a sequel toBumblebeeand a follow-up toTheLast Knightbeing worked on simultaneously. There have also been rumors that there could eventually be a movie that would bring together the universes ofTransformersand the characters fromG.I. Joe. That particular crossover featured heavily in several different versions of both IPs' comic books but was never really explored in either animated series. Just when audiences can expect to see any of these projects is still unknown.
The untitledTransformerssequel is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 04, 2025.
