V Risinghas teased an upcoming collaboration with Konami’s belovedCastlevaniaseries. The popular vampire game, which entered early access in 2022, is set to fully launch within the coming months.
Developed by the Sweden-based Stunlock Studios,V Risingdistinguishes itself from its survival game contemporaries by giving people the ability to play as terrifying, magic-wielding vampires. Players will encounter many unique bosses across the Unity engine-based title’s open world, including those dedicated to fighting the undead. Soon,V Rising’s pool of bosses will be reinforced by one of gaming’s most famous vampire hunters, all thanks to a collaboration between the game and Konami.
In a recent blog post, it was announced thatV Risingwill be collaborating withCastlevania, the long-running media franchise centered around the Belmont family and its eternal battle against Dracula. This free Legacy of Castlevania content pack, which drops on May 8, will add Simon Belmont to the game as a boss, as well asCastlevania’s iconic Vampire Killer whipand a number of other holy weapons.
Meanwhile, a new Legacy of Castlevania Premium Pack paid cosmetic DLC will giveV Risingplayers access to castle decorations, character customization options, and a mount that are all based on Konami’s beloved vampire hunter series. Simon is the protagonist of the first two mainlineCastlevaniaentries that were released on Nintendo’s Famicom/NES systems, and he is among the Belmont bloodline’s most popular members. Additionally, the whip-swinging fighter is considered to be one of thestrongest Belmonts in theCastlevaniaseries. Across the franchise, Simon and Cristopher Belmont are the only members of the family who have bested Dracula twice. Killing Simon inV Risingwill let players unlock a new weapon, as well as learn new combat abilities.
The May 8 release ofV Rising’s Legacy of Castlevania content pack will coincide with the game’s full launch. Stunlock Studios has promised that the 1.0 release will bring official controller support to the game, a feature that players have been requesting for a long time. The title has only been available on PC since it was announced, butV Risingwill get a PS5 port in 2024. The full release will also introduce a host of new content toV Rising, including weapons, enemies, events, and even an endgame zone, among other things.
