There are few things more frustrating to a gamer than trying to show someone a neat trick in a video game, but failing to do it in front of them. The embarrasment increases exponentially when that same someone gives the trick a try, and succeeds almost instantly. This is exactly the case with streamer Mizkif, who couldn’t execute a well-known shortcut inSuper Mario 64–that is, until fellow streamer Emiru got ahold of the controller.

Super Mario 64is one-third of the somewhat controversialSuper Mario 3D All-Stars,which also contains 2002’sSuper Mario Sunshineas well as 2007’sSuper Mario Galaxy. The root of controversy behind the title is primarily its limited availability window, with the game only being on sale from September 2020 through March 2021.Super Mario 3D All-Stars’recent update adds Nintendo 64 controller support, giving a much more authentic experience.

The video comes courtesy of Mizkif’s official TikTok account, which, if gamers can’t tell by the caption, is a particularly embarrasing moment. In the clip, Mizkif is attempting the popularSuper Mario 64long jump stair glitch, which when done correctly, allows Mario to launch at high velocity and pass through otherwise impenetrable barriers. After trying a handful of times without success, a frustrated Mizkif hands the controller over to Emiru. After she questions Mizkif’s decision for non-default settings, Emiru lines up for the glitch and nails it on her first try, causing Mizkif to bury his face in shame.

The hilarious video shows an all-too-relatable moment for many gamers, and is also a positive indicator of Mizkif’s return to streaming. Back in September, theMizkif announced he’d be going on an extended hiatusin the wake of his publicized breakup with another streamer, Maya. Mizkif had released a video regarding his situation at the time, and that he wasn’t in the mental or emotional state to continue streaming because of things associated with he and Maya’s relationship ending and her moving out.

While it certainly seems like Mizkif has some skills to polish up before implementing the long jump stair glitch into a speedrun, popular Twitch streamer and speedrunner Liam recentlybeat his ownSuper Mario 64speedrun record. The well-known speedrunner managed to get all 120 stars in the game and defeat the final incarnation of Bowser in an astounding 1:37:53, shattering the previous record of 1:38:13, which was also set by Liam somewhat recently.

While Mizkif may have gotten schooled on the popularSuper Mario 64long jump stair glitch exploit, it never hurts to have a fellow gamer lend a hand to achieve something. Mizkif and Emiru may have a harder timeusing drums as a controller, which is what oneSuper Mario 64player used to speedrun the game.

Super Mario 64is available on Nintendo 64, Wii, Wii U, and Switch.
