Summary

After three decades in the industry, it seems fair to say that theCivilizationseries is one of the most beloved strategy franchises in all of gaming. Predominantly a PC series for most of its life,Civilizationhas found a whole new wave of success thanks toCivilization 6’s console ports, and moving forward, it seems likely that Firaxis will want to continue to make sure that it’s catering to all markets, which could lead to a lengthier development period forCivilization 7.

Announced rather nonchalantly at the beginning of the year,Civilization 7was confirmed to be in development by 2K alongside the announcement that Firaxis veteran Jake Solomon would be leaving the studio, and that Heather Hazen would be taking over. Since then, fans have heard nothing aboutCivilization 7’s development, gameplay, or potential release window, which means that it might be time for some moreCiv 7news in 2024.

What Fans Can Expect From Civilization 7 in 2024

When Fans Can Expect to See More Civilization 7 News

WhenCivilization 7was first announced in Februaryof this year, it wasn’t clear just how far along in development it was at that point. If, by the time of its announcement in February,Civilization 7had just entered full development, then the game still might be quite a ways off, and fans might not get to see a full reveal for it for some time. But ifCivilization 7had already been in development for some time back in February, then Firaxis might be ready to show something pretty soon.

Regardless of how far along in developmentCivilization 7is right now, Firaxis does have a history of announcinga newCivilizationentry, and then following it up pretty quickly with a full reveal and more information. It’s already been almost an entire year since that initialCiv 7announcement, and that could either mean that a full reveal is right around the corner, or that Firaxis is breaking a notable tradition for the franchise. While it hasn’t been confirmed in any official capacity, it does seem at least fairly likely that Firaxis will release more information aboutCivilization 7in 2024.

The Chances of a 2024 Release Date for Civilization 7 Are Slim

But while it seems likely that fans will get to see at least something fromCivilization 7in 2024, it seems much less plausible thatCivilization 7will actually release in 2024, though pastCivpatterns might suggest the opposite.TheCivilizationserieshas a pattern of being announced and released in the same year.Civilization 5was first revealed in February 2010, and launched in September of the same year, andCivilization 6was first announced in May 2016, and hit store shelves that October.

There’s a very slim possibility that ifCivilization 7gets a full reveal trailer in early 2024, then it could end up releasing later on in the year. Of course, this is just pure speculation, and there’s really no way of knowingCivilization 7’s release plans before Firaxis or 2K makes an official statement. Additionally, Firaxis has been exceptionally busy recently, not only adding new post-launch content toCiv 6and theXCOMseries, but also developingMarvel’s Midnight Suns, which was a huge project for the team that presumably took up much of the studio’s resources. It might still be a long time before fans seeCivilization 7in the flesh.
