Summary
Ahead of its release, Capcom’sDragon’s Dogma 2already has a lot going for it. Based on what has been revealed so far, it appears Capcom is improving the world ofDragon’s Dogmain a multitude of ways while simultaneously adding plenty ofnew features toDragon’s Dogma 2that freshen up its familiar RPG formula. One way it is reinventing its predecessor’s approach to classic role-playing tropes and mechanics is in its healthy pool of vocations, which isDragon’s Dogma 2’s version of character classes.
Like its predecessor,Dragon’s Dogma 2allows players to choose from a variety of vocations when creating their character, each of which encourages a distinct playstyle and strategic approach that sets it apart from the game’s other vocations. However, theDragon’s Dogmasequel has thoroughly expanded on these customization features by adding more depth and diversity than before, along with a greater number of options for players to choose from. With such immersive role-playing elements and an increasing demand for in-depth customization in games,Dragon’s Dogma 2’s vocations are undoubtedly one of its best selling points.

What Makes Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Vocations One Of Its Best Selling Points
There Are Ten Vocations to Choose From in Dragon’s Dogma 2
While there were nine vocations inDragon’s Dogma, there are tenvocations inDragon’s Dogma 2. Despite this being a very modest increase in the number of classes available across both games, Capcom has ensured an increase inDragon’s Dogma 2’s class diversity, which also lends to the feeling that it has a great deal more vocations than the first game, even though it doesn’t.
Whencreating a new character inDragon’s Dogma 2, players will be allowed to choose between four starter vocations: Fighter, Archer, Thief, and Mage. At the beginning of the game, each of these vocations is expected to follow the rules of traditional RPG class tropes. Thieves, for instance, areDragon’s Dogma 2’s assassin or rogue class, wielding daggers at close range and stealing items from enemies. Archers, on the other hand, focus on ranged attacks using a bow and arrow and have a decent amount of mobility that allows them to maintain distance from their enemies. However, despite this traditional approachDragon’s Dogma 2takes in its starter vocations, its hybrid vocations add a level of diversity to the sequel that even its predecessor couldn’t achieve.
Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Hybrid Vocations Contribute to Its Class Diversity
Dragon’s Dogmahad three hybrid vocations: Mystic Knight, Assassin, and Magick Archer. Magick Archer is returning as a hybrid vocation inDragon’s Dogma 2, but the first game’s Assassin class has essentially devolved into the sequel’s Thief class. Furthermore,Dragon’s Dogma’s Mystic Knight vocation is now more like the Mystic Spearhand class inDragon’s Dogma 2, except the Mystic Spearhand will use its unique Duospear to perform both melee and magic attacks, as opposed to the Mystic Knight’s swords, maces, or staves.
Like its Mystic Spearhand class,Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Trickstersuse a special weapon called the “Censer,” which allows them to create illusions that deceive enemies and provide buffs for their teammates. Finally, the new Wayfarer class is perhaps the most distinct vocation of the ten, as it can utilize every weapon and learn any skill from the other vocations. This is likely whereDragon’s Dogma 2will be taken advantage of the most, as players look for creative ways to approach combat and exploration using the Wayfarer.
Dragon’s Dogma 2has plenty of features to be excited about, but its vocations are undoubtedly one of its strongest selling points. Capcom has certainly paved the way for a brand-new experience in the world ofDragon’s Dogmawith the sequel’s ten vocations, and it’s likely to keep players engaged for quite some time.
