While theZelda: Tears of the Kingdomtrailer remains vague as to not spoil too much of the story ahead of the game’s launch, one fan has taken it upon themselves to use the subtle clues to track Zelda’s possible location. ConsideringTears of the Kingdomseems to largely use the same map from Breath of the Wild, albeit with changes to the landscape, a Reddit user named Super7Chaos uses the landscape shots in the background, comparing them to shots of the map in the first game. Highlighting their discoveries on a map, it appears Zelda’s approximate location is the Spring of Courage, just east of Lake Hylia.
While the discovery did get people talking, with many joking that Super7Chaos was able to speedrun the game without it being out yet, the discourse seemed to switch to a different aspect that has become a hot topic as of late. Many fans in the comments have begun to theorize that Zelda isn’t lost in a typical sense, instead being stuck in some alternative timeline either in the past or possible future. In fact, some fans noted that the location looks almost as if it was in ruins and that there were no Sky Islands in the shot, hinting thattime travel could be in play forTears of the Kingdomsimilar to how it was used inOcarina of Time.
Whatever the case may be, fans shouldn’t expect to hear much more from Nintendo on the game ahead of its launch in May. To this point, Nintendo has been relatively silent on Tears of the Kingdom, wanting the players to discover and be surprised by the events that unfold for themselves. While Nintendo has never tolerated leaks, it has seemingly been even more vigilant with this game, eventaking legal action against the person who leaked the Tears of the Kingdom art bookonline a few months back.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomreleases July 12, 2025, for Nintendo Switch.
